Nice Metroid comes out a whole month before Halo 3, I wonder if sales wont be as canabalized as MP 2 was since it came out in the middle of Halo 2 and the horrible killzone.

I wonder if Ubisoft can redeem themselves with Brothers in Arms for the Wii, I never tried the series but I have always heard that its pretty good.

Nice to see Metroid coming sooner.  Happily surprised that Picross DS is actually coming to America.

And look, Drake and Josh is such an advanced title that the DS version is coming out months after the GBA game Jonny reviewed.  Maybe they added touch screen password entry?

This pretty much debunks my prediction that we would only see one of the big three titles this year.  There's no way they're going to leave black friday alone without putting either Brawl or Galaxy on store shelves.

No finder's fee credit line thingy to Rhoq? Don't you guys normally do that when someone contributes info?

EDIT: Super-excited for this, and I agree with Pale: this only bodes well for an earlier release date for Brawl and/or Galaxy

Good list

Will Metroid Prime 3 be online?

Where is project HAMMER?

Tiger Woods is coming again awfully quickly.

I was just about to say the same thing....

Didn't Tiger Woods '07 just come out about a month or so ago?
I would be kinda pissed if I just bought it and the new version pops up on the shelf 4 months later.

Did anyone notice that Battalion Wars 2 is being released in September going against Halo 3.  BW2 has been said to support online multiplayer...so perhaps this game will directly challenge Halo 3 for a great online gaming experience.

It may work too...because it won't be more of the same like Halo 3 is going to be, and will bring much of the same fun we all desire in our verse modes...mainly tons of explosions, strategy, and vehicle weapons.

Spak, the audiences are so different I don't think it stands a chance...

That said, it could definitely be entertaining.  I had a good time playing the single level multiplayer demo they had back in September, and I'm definitely looking forward to it.  Now I have two games I need to finish before the end of August, Prime 2 and Batallion Wars.

Didn't I read somewhere Mario Galaxy was supposed to be September?  I don't see it on the list...

Also, why do they release three different versions of the Mega Man game?  Are they ALL different or just some kind of strange rebranding?  Never did get why that was done with the Pokemon games...

BTW, are we ever going to get a new classic mega man series game, rather than this 'Virtual Mega Man' spinoff stuff?  Does not look the least bit interesting...

Hey guys, note that this list ONLY covers July through September.  NOA typically does not announce specific release dates more than a quarter in advance.

Phantom Hourglass is coming during the holiday months, so November/December.
Title: RE: NOA Release Dates Galore

Oh fiddle sticks. I'm gonna buy at least 4 games on that Wii list, and I don't even WANT to look at the DS list. All my hopes for a dry, quiet summer of money-saving are dashed to bits.

Oh, but this August release date sounds neat for Metroid Prime 3. I think it's good they're not sending it up against Halo, and MP will be on shelves for the holiday sales period. Also, this bodes well for the release of Mario and Brawl. All in all, a good start to the fall season by Nintendo.

Of course, we don't see Disaster or Hammer anywhere there. I think Nintendo's pushed those titles into 2008 because they know that this Fall they'd just be overshadowed by Mario et al. Maybe we'll see these games in early 2008 to combat the perceived after-holiday drought?
Title: RE:NOA Release Dates Galore
Post by: IceCold on May 21, 2007, 08:26:09 AM
Thank you very much. I predicted that Metroid would be late August or early September, then Super Mario Galaxy would be there for the holidays and Brawl to be delayed until 2008. I'm pretty sure that this is how it will end up. Hopefully Nintendo has ramped up production significantly before Galaxy comes out so that it's much easier to find one That will be a system seller for sure.. unless there aren't any systems to sell.

As two others mentioned, where the hell is Project HAMMER? NST hasn't been known for fast development times, but we haven't heard any news at all of HAMMER since E3.

And Phantom Hourglass was revealed way back at GDC 2006! It's possible that they're holding it for a holiday release, but still, Nintendo really needs to find a way to speed up Aonuma's team's development..

Also, yay for Picross!

Megaman ZX? It's the closest you'll see. I'm not sure about classic MM but X and Zero are both dead and their storylines over (not that that means much with Zero).

Wait if the audiences are different, shouldn't that mean that Batallion Wars does stand a chance (Unless you are referring to it toppling Halo)? I agree that it will not beat Halo 3, but I think it has potential to sell quite well this time around. Also in regards to another post, does it really matter if Mario Galaxy is a system seller or not? If Nintendo is still selling out everything they produce, which is far more than the competition, shouldn't that be what matters? It is total units sold that matters the most, not how many systems you sell with it.

I guess what I meant to say GP is that they don't stand a chance of affecting each other in any real way.  They might both do well, but it has nothing to do with the fact that they came out close to each other.

No, PH is come along nicely in japan and is releasing in a month (June 23, 07!). NOA on the other hand, might forget about PH after releasing SMG/SSBB/MP3....

Ah I see, that I do agree with. I really do hope BWII does better than the first, which was a quality game that deserved better sales. Not to mention it better do well so I can play people online. Hehe

Personally I would rather Nintendo take the time with Phantom Hourglass, speeding things up is usually not a good thing. Anyway if Nintendo can release the SMG/SSBB/MP3 combo this year I can see a bright future for Wii, either of those games should be enough to continue the momentum. My only concern (Or is more curiosity?) is what Nintendo has planned for 2008 and beyond after releasing their big properties so early.

Hmm? I thought I implied that Nintendo may want to hold off on releasing Galaxy for a time where the Wii isn't selling out. Who knows when that might be, but if the Wii is sold out through 2007, it could be a waste of Galaxy's potential to release it this year.

So hopefully Nintendo boosts production enough so that Wiis are easy to find by the time Galaxy is out.

Considering it's hard for developers to even get a bloody two-player fighting game running lag-free, I'd be really surprised if Ninty can get it working with four players...But yeah, don't really care either way...

It's good to see MP3 get a solid release date.
My sole reason for buying a Wii finally has a date.

Does MP3 have a website yet?
I know Brawl has a website and it doesn't even have a release date yet.
Title: RE: NOA Release Dates Galore
Post by: NinGurl69 *huggles on May 21, 2007, 06:00:46 PM
Cuz Brawl needs the hype since it'll get trounced by Halol3.

Nintendo knows MP3 isn't exciting, and Nintendo knows they can't build a good website for it either, so Nintendo isn't bothering to spend the money to make a website and start the hype train.

But BWii will be the real test for online success since there's much more going on in that game in an online session than silly laggy fighting matches and fps-wannabe bounty hunting girls.

Okay, so I guess I'm getting a Wii by August 20, assuming I can find one by then.  Every time Nintendo comes up in the conversation my brother asks me "when is Metroid Prime 3 coming out?"  Now I can finally give him an answer and maybe he'll stop bugging me.

I think Batallion Wars is more likely be overshadowed by Metroid than Halo.  If a Nintendo fan is on a budget they're probably going to make sure they have enough for Metroid.  But with Batallion Wars coming out only a month after they may have to skip it.  With really big games you can usually skip it and buy it later but Batallion Wars might get overlooked.  It may be a title that looked good at the time but you didn't have the money and then when you did get the money other titles were available that caught your interest more.

Kind of like how Wii Play overshadowed Super Paper Mario. Oh wait, nevermind!
