Title: Singleplayer games?
Post by: KDR_11k on May 17, 2007, 08:55:23 PM
Are there any singleplayer games for the Wii that are worth the pricetag? I mean, I got Zelda for the Gamecube way back when and my Wii is still sitting in a transport box because I can't be bothered to reconnect it, there's nothing on the thing I want to play. Most singleplayer games for the Wii end up being recommended for a rental or avoiding completely and I'd like to get some use out of the 200€ I spent on that machine.

Godfather and Super Paper Mario (if they are out where you live yet).

There's barely nothing. I haven't played mine in weeks because the release schedule has been pretty poor since middle of april. even my friend, who got his Wii for the first time, said the same.
Nintendo Europe? Nah. Nintendo Failure.

Kororinpa looks good. Don't forget Trauma Center, too.

Is Trauma Center finally coming out in Europe this July or something?

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know we were talking about games in Europe, but it looks like Trauma Center will be released there on June 22nd, so at least it's relatively near.

This is the standard mid-year console drought.
Things won't pick up again until summer-christmas.

Do you have Excite Truck their? Its not the most in-depth game in the world but the singleplayer is enjoyable.

Worth 60€? I'm not too keen on racing games, the last ones I played, Burnout 2 and Mario Kart DS, got too annoying to play less than half way through.

I'm not that big of a racing fan either, but I really enjoyed Excite Truck.
At first I thought the people at NWR and my friends were greatly exaggerating about the game's value. But once I sat down with it, I was having a blast.
The sheer joy comes from the controls. It truly does feel like you are in charge of your truck. It makes races that much exciting and frustrating.
Had this been a traditionally controller racer it would've been a sub par racing game, but the controls make this an excellent game.
If you are not too keen on it, I recommend renting if you can. See what you think of it. Just don't let your experiences with past racing games cloud your mind when trying ET out.

Ditto. I'm really not a racing fan myself but I enjoy Excite Truck. 60 Euros worth I don't know but that translated to dollars their/they're/there are very few games I would pay that much for though.

60 euros? How much is that in real money?
....80 bucks? Seriously? Man.
The answer to your question is no.

Banana Blitz, single player was about the only thing they got right.

Sorry KDR your on the the short end of a very short stick when it comes to long single player games on the Wii. Try Super Paper Mario when it comes out, other wise wait for Prime 3 or just buy some PS2 games.

This is actually possibly not a bad suggestion. The multi player is so bad, it made me forget that the single player is actually pretty decent.

Hm. Yes, downloading a truckload of GOOD VC games might keep you busy for a while, or at least untill Super Paper Mario comes out. Unfortunately, the game is about 20 hours in length so I wouldn't recommend going overboard with it.
Now I see why Nintendo has decided to release their big guns this year...because they've released nothing huge but Zelda in the past couple of months!

I third Super Monkey Ball's single player. Excite Truck is quite good but if you're already against racing games, I can't see it being worth full price.
