Title: Zelda / Metroid could they save gcn in aus?
Post by: WaReW0Lf on March 17, 2003, 08:42:24 PM
I went to my local EB today and pre-ordred Zelda / Metroid. I asked them if id be able to get a bonus disc and they said they werent sure he said both of the games were being pre-ordered like mad especially zelda over 130 pre-orderes for zelda and over 100 for Metroid prime. It may not seem like much I guess but hopefully these games could save GameCube in Australia..

Finally coming out? I dunno about you, but I've got over 10 games for my Cube already, and I think they're all great.

What are they Tael?

I think "finally coming out" is a fair thing to say. We are just getting RE 0, and have a few other big name games like MP launching soon.

My games:
Super Monkey Ball, Super Smash Bros Melee, Pikmin, Resident Evil, Super Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Time Splitters 2, Star Wars: Rogue Leader, Beach Spikers, Mario Party 4, Resident Evil 0.

I had Sega Soccer Slam and Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, but my friends didn't like to play them, so I got rid of them.

And in Australia, how cool, and thats in one store alone right?
Well, i'll pre-order when the disc thing is confirmed.

Hybrid Hunter - So that means you pre-ordered last week after you read Nintendo Australia's news article, right?

People, i dont see why we have to have so many Australia threads, i mean cmon, one is enough.

And to answer the question, YES! Simply because Nintendo Australia have promised to ADVERTISE a game Yes, you heard right, Metroid Prime will be heavily advertised everywhere and anywhere possible, and i assume Wind Waker will too. As soon as the Australian public become aware that Gamecube actually exists, im sure console sales will times by at least 10. But there is something thats worrying me, i think Nintendo might go overboard with the Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire and GBA SP advertising and we might not see much Metroid ads. But time will tell, i really hope Nintendo Australia gets it act together, im sick of being laughed at for owning a "Lamecube" or a "G@ycube". But hey, i just shove the Resident Evil box in thier face and that usually shuts them up

The bonus disc in Australia has been confirmed. It will be a pack-in, meaning it will be inside the same box as the Wind Waker.

sure we have good games, but i was more refering to THE big games, your metroids your zeldas etc, the big franchises that people can recognise, sure we have resident evil but really, it was just a remake, so wouldn't generate that much interest in outsiders (non nintendo owners, specially playstation owners)

but yesh yesh, not long to go till metroid prime folks, not long at all (ha ha ntsc people we get a better one anyone from ntsc land going to import the pal version? )

Over 100 pre-orders for just THAT store is amazing. I pre-ordered Zelda a month ago.
If he meant over 100 pre-orders nationwide, then that's a bit of a start.

So, the Zelda bonus discs come packed-in? HELL YEAH! At least we finally got something better than the Japanese, and their plastic sleeve for the bonus discs. A pack in would be excellent!

And Zelda and Metroid had BETTER pull up sales of Gamecube here in Oz, or else there is no hope. If Metroid and Zelda couldn't do it, no one can.
And Nintendo had BETTER advertise these games.

Well WE got a seperate full fledged boxed edition with instruction manual and all in America! So HA!

Oh well, it's okay Australia...Zelda's already a million seller without your help....and so is Metroid by now. Of course that's adding up worldwide sales.

Actually, where IS this advertising Nintendo promised us for Metroid Prime? Seriously, it's coming out on the 3rd, right? I still haven't seen anything apart from cool posters in Target and EB World..

I reckon here in Australia, people are gonna slowly gain respect for Nintendo again, especially with releases like Zelda and Metroid. It may not suddenly make the Cube the bestest console in the general public's opinion, but by the time Nintendo bring out their next console, people will start buying lots again and it will RULE THE WORLD!!! Muaahahahaaahahahaha!

...maybe.

Well, do we have to pre-order to get the disc or do we buy it and the disc will be there too!?
I've yet to see any advertising, they should advertise their free game with GCN!

I'm hoping the game does well, but with the way things are going I don't know what'll happen.
I guess it could follow the same pattern as all other high-profile GCN games - hit the top 5, or even #1, but the following week it'll drop to around 8th, and the week after that it won't be in the top 10 at all.
Obviously we'll have to wait and see how Nintendo promotes and advertises the game.

From what I've heard, The bonus discs will be a pack in, so you don't have to pre-order it to get it. I don't know how linited the bonus discs are, but I think you'd better pre-order the game just to be sure. I mean, who knows, maybe Zelda will be as popular as it is in the US, and get out standing sales, and sell millions of Gamecubes. But pre-order it. Games like this go fast. It might even be permanent, like the 'limited edition' gold carts for OCarina and Majora.

yeah, they marketed N64 ALOT.
You couldn't go anywhere or watch a tv break without seeing a N64 ad.
Michael Klim was on all the time promoting 1080 snowboarding, the Banjo-Kazooie ads were ingenious, and the Ocarina of Time ads were epic and gorgeous - no real life girl doing a voice- over, just chock full of game footage. It was all good back then. No complaints from me at all. Until the infamous drought. The last N64 game i recall being advertised was Perfect Dark, and that was pretty late, around 12am, oh wait, no, Conker's bad fur day. There we go.
