Title: Rogue Mafia: Day 10. The Offshore Oil Platform.
Post by: Khushrenada on April 17, 2007, 06:58:52 PM
Heh heh heh. Waluigi still going strong, continuing my longtime story of larceny.

Still despondant over my brother's death, I wandered the streets thinking about all the good times we had together. Liek the time, we both raced togeth in the Mario Kart circuits. He would steer the car into all sorts of obstacles and I would have to hold on to the back of the vehicle for dear life as he continued driving with me being dragged behind. He always said he did it because he loved me and wanted to help me toughen up. It worked. I have awesome upper body strength as you can tell from any photo taken of me. Walking along various streets, I came upon a Coke vending machine. I bought at least twelve bottles and drowned my sorrows with them, thinking of Wario and his Coke contract. "This is for you, ya big lug," I said.

Afterwards, I really regretted doing that because man, was my body pumped up on sugar and caffine. My mind raced over so many things and I just had the urge to run and keep running. Then, the sugar levels in me crashed and I just collapsed. Lying in a ditch, I realized that I needed to find some place to rest. That's when I heard the sound of a vehicle approach and an agary yells were coming from it. The vehicle pulled over close to where I was. I lay motionless and strained with all my might to hear what was being said. All I heard was a voice say, "Just add it to the body over there!" and then a heavy object fell on top off me and the vehicle peeled away. A pushed the object off of me and then examined it in the moonlight. It turns out it was Fawful or as he's known around here Vudu. Appearently, his non-sensical ravings had driven some people nuts and they killed him and dumped him off in this ditch.

Well, let me tell you, having a dead body thrown on top of you at night does a lot to get a person's energy back-up and I was off and running again. After a mile, I came upon a seedy rundown motel. Since I still needed a place to rest for the night and didn't feel like lying in a ditch with dead bodies, I figured what the heck. So, I haggled over the price of how much it would cost. I thought it should be free since the fact that the motel would be able to advertise the fact that I stayed there would be payment enough. They agreed to let me stay there for free if I swore never to tell anyone I had been within 500 yards of the place. Well, free is free but man did they just lose outon attracting customers.

Well, I went straight to bed. But I was woken up during the night by a scream. A crowd gathered to a room where the scream had come from. Inside, Pittboi (or as he put on the guest registery list, Medusa) lay dead. It seems he had been stabbed in the shower. Everyone agreed that it was just terrible. Whoever heard of being killed in a shower while staying at a motel? You just don't expect these kinds of things. Anyways, even though there was this terrible scene around us, people sudden;y noticed that the great Waluigi was with them. People started talking to the owner of the hotel over this fact. No doubt they probably wanted to know why they weren't informed they had the privilage of staying at a hotel with me. I tried to explain to the manager the benefit of having me around. Well, soon after, pretty much everyone began to check out of the motel. I guess the death was too much for them. Then, the manager came over and demanded I leave the premises. He started arguing that I was ruining his business. So, we argued for a little while and all of sudden I woke up in another ditch outside the city.

It was dawn and the sun was just rising. Slowly rising to my feet, I began to walk back to the city going over in my mind all that had happened yesterday. That's when I suddenly remembered some if the things that raced through my mind during my Coke binge. Namely that, Oohhboy's identity was stolen by the brains of the mafia and that Crimm was killed by the mafia and was just a townie. Piecing that information with what I already knew, I realized that all the signs pointed to the gang of thieves hiding out on the offshore oil platform in Rogueport bay. I had to hurry there for my chance to finally catch up with the thieves.

And so, Day 10 went something like this:

Post by: Khushrenada on April 17, 2007, 07:00:23 PM
The following people died yesterday:

Vudu
Pittboi

The following information was revealed from the result of Day 5:

Oohhboy - Role stolen by The Brains - Killed by vote
Crimm - Rogue - Killed by mafia

Voting ends at Midnight Eastern as usual.

We are down to 7 players. The game is starting to wind down. Every vote is crucial.

Finally, it was not a good day. Pittsburgh Penguins lost and so did the Anahiem Ducks. The Wild finally win a game against the Ducks. Enjoy it now Wild fans. They won't win another.

Well, other than that, there is nothing outstanding to address so have at it.

Yeah, I really wanted Pittsburgh to win this one - they were unfortunate to get Ottawa in the first round. If they had faced anyone except Buffalo or Ottawa, they would have been in the second round easily, and maybe even further. The matchup just isn't good.

But I can't believe you would cheer for Anaheim. I'm with the Wild all the way, simply because Minnesota's fans are just amazing. The Xcel Energy Centre is probably the most energetic one in America - they deserve much better than the Wild's effort in the first three games. The atmosphere went as far as to remind me of the Bell Centre in Montreal, like the jeers and the banging of the plexiglas with each penalty call.

Zach has either forgot he was playing Mafia or has been laying low the entire game.  Both are suspicious...and annoying.

At least when Pale said he was going to be gone for awhile he told he was moving or something.

Without a forced vote the Mafia can try an be invisible with no votes until the end.  It actually seems like a great strategy to keep one member laying low the entire game.

Could that member be Zach?  I dunno.  But voted Vudu out for not playing the game.  I will do the same for ZACH.

VOTE: ZACH

Khushrenda:  Nice story.  I never knew Waluigi an Wario were so close.  They really  bonded.  Not like Mario and Luigi, where Mario runs off all the time with his Bro...and doesn't even introduce him to the world.  People only know him as that Green Guy.

and don't forget Waluigi and all those times you and Wario lost in Tennis vs. those Mario Brothers.

Or that time you made a giant machine to look up Peaches Skirt.

Apparently not participating is the best way for me to stay alive!

This space for rent.

Who should I vote for?

Posting in a mafia thread when you aren't even playing? I think that is a banable offense and if I could ever get another mod besides Bloodworth to talk to me, I'd have you out of here.

But on another note, I actually agree with you about the Wild. I do like their fans alot and I've felt bad that there team has been stuck in such a tough division. I'm sure that if Minnesota was in the Central Division, they would have made the playoffs more than they have now. It's been reported that the Wild have sold out every home game since they came into the league. I don't know if that is true or not but I know they definitely have a packed house every game.

The truth is, I'd probably root for the Wild if they faced any other opponent in the west this year, except Anahiem. Anahiem is my favorite team in the west and I'm going to stick by them no matter what. It was tough last year when the Ducks faced the Oilers since I live in Edmonton but I still stuck with the Ducks and I'm with sticking with them now even though I am sympathetic to the other team also. That's the way things go.

Anyhoo, I'd been posting in here for awhile about cheering on the Ducks but I guess this is the first time you noticed. And since no one had ever posted anything else in defense of the Wild, I figured I could get away with a harsher message. The funny thing was, I was even debating whether I should post that message since it was a strong slap to the Wild fans but then I figured, hey, no one has posted anything in defense of the Wild yet, so why not? And now this. Way to ruin everything.

You know what, I should just start a hockey thread instead of hijacking this mafia thread.

Alright mafia players, nothing to see here. Continue on with your regularly scheduled game.

Oops, I was wondering when you guys would notice.  I just havent been able to get too into this game for some reason (I think its the lack of info).  I Honestly have not purposefully been trying to stay low (Seems I have been doing a good job of it accidentally though).  Seriously though, Ive played this game enough so that if I were mafia I would have tried to be more present.

Anyway I dont blame you for voting for me, I have voted for apathetic players a lot myself.  Just give me another chance guys, I am a rogue, and I promise to participate.  Right now I gotta look through some of the past days and decide who to vote for, but in the mean time. unvote Dasmos (no offense, character thing).

In my defense, first day I was the second person to vote for known mafia member Shift Key.

No offense, but that is pretty rediculous.  I mean, one thing that I have learned about mafia is that disapearing may save you for a while, but it always draws attention once people catch on (like what is happening here, and it has happened in every other mafia I have played). I dont really have a great excuse for not being around, I guess I just got bored.

Anyway, I have a sneaking suspicion from reading through, so unVOTE PALE

But wait a minute! Only two mafia members died. That means there's 3 members left. Which means that:

18 Days - The Charming Leader
Athrun Zala - Rogue
Dasmos - The Brains/The Mad Scientist (role acquired from Oohhboy)
Pale - Rogue
Spak-Spang - The Tough Guy/Mafia Recruit

That means it's...............................................................................

A MAFIA VICTORY!

Congratulations to the mafia. This game is over. The final story will be posted tomorrow as well as awards to follow soon thereafter.

As they say in F-zero GX: Thanks for Playing!

I was a little worried after that.  Up until I died, we were still trying to see if there was a way to have you alive for when we won.  Or at least, I was trying to find that out.  It seemed very possible when oohhboy lost.

If Mafia win, then all members of the mafia are considered winners whether they are alive at the end. I just had a very very short stint, that's all.

I was still talking with the other mafia members regarding carrying out the plans, I just didn't get to roleplay and vote. Meh.

I just thought the novelty would be nice, you know.  Kind of like why they brought back S-U-P-E-R today.  There was no need, we still would have won, but still, having everyone alive is just nice, even if it is superficial.

He was clever enough to tell a lot of people his role on the third day, in hopes to be recruited that night.  Smart idea, I think.  Anyways, from the end of the third day, we were invincible from the night's actions, IIRC.

Move of the game was far and away securing the Mad Scientist role.

I was worried for a minute, but we pulled through WELL DONE TEAM!

But geez, a lot of stuff jsut fell iknto place for us. Like killing Sessha, the cop, Sessha was all "HAY IM THE COP AND THATGUY IS MAFIA!" and I'm all "=o I'll vote for him then!" and immediately chnaged my kill to Sessha that night.

And again, gaining the mad scientist role. Heh, we really didn't know oohboy was the scientist. Dasmos was to me like "Hey oohboy got a few votes today, I'm going to predict that he'll be gone tomorrow" and I'm "great, I'll start a bandwagon."

Yeah, I would have to say that we got most of our info from everyone but SUPER, but he did verify a bit of it for us after we heard it.  Spak told us who he was, Wandering told Spak who he was, Sessha went crazy.  With Oohhboy we were lucky, and that was it the main people alive for the majority of the game.
So the question of how did we know who everyone was?  Additionally, Wandering, I still can't figure out that rant you posted on the day I lost, so I can't see how that got everyone to switch their vote around.  I just don't see why you wouldn't listen to Sessha and tell people to vote out me from his message, first, especially since he was killed by the mafia, so he definitely was good.

Additionally, next time, don't kill the seductress on the recruiting day.  One of you would have been on our side for the win.  It would have been Wandering, but people didn't trust the stoolie, so that position was up for grabs, pretty much.  One of you should have messaged me, asking if I would let you in, and then changed your vote for my favor.  It would have been nice to live through the whole game.

I was going to vote pale off just because he was annoying the hell out of me and the fact that he bandwagons everything. I can't believe anyone listened to him in the first place.

The worse thing about this whole thing was that the townies had jack all activity. The mafia had more votes than the townies most of the time because of this.

It was such a horrible townie game that I went out of my way to burn them on my way out. Amegeddon device activiated, I left in a blaze of icecream glory as the town burned in hell. Hows that for the Mad Scientist.

Well day 2 I was contacted by wandering, and TVguy.  TVguy told me Pale was a townie.  So I first contacted him.  and protected him day 2 and 3.  Day 2 nothing happened.  But day 3 I got a lucky hit on the Slasher.  Without that hit things would have turned out much, much differently.  The slasher could have torn us apart.

On day 3 I revealed myself to TVguy, wandering and Pale because I needed to connect with townies to survive and use my role.  I realized day 3 would be the safest day to risk talking to Mafia, because they would most likely just recruit me for my power instead of killing me.  Who knew that same day I would kill the Slasher so they wouldn't really need me.

But since I revealed myself to wandering he revealed himself to me.  Him being the Stoolie scared me not to talk to him anymore, least any information got out.

Information went down after the Mafia got the Mad Scientist role, and I can see why that was kinda a "cheap" move.  But seriously, there were many clues out there to who people were.

18 Days Mafia...wandering and so many people had it right, and several times you could have voted him out, but either people were boycotting the game or just wasn't around.

Spak-Spang Mafia...I followed 18 Days on several votes, but I did try to vote different from time to time.  I had several Private conversations with a Rogue, but never switched my vote...even when I agreed with him 18 Days couldn't be trusted and was probably Mafia.  If he would have caught on to that and PMed for my death it could have changed.

My dumb move of the day, was voting for SUPER to try to help prove my "innocence"  I didn't know we had the Mad Scientist role and it would hide the results of the killing.  I tried to make my vote sound random, but then it helped start a bandwagon against him.  And it didn't even help with my plan.

I have been talking to Khush about possibly new roles and rules for a Mafia game.

My idea was trying to give everyone a little power and place more importance on the voting...this would give townies more power in the game, and help balance things.  Perhaps, in the future we will see this version of Mafia played.  Perhaps not.

I know this post was a silly tease...but hopefully it will get you excited for a new Mafia game.

This game was fun, and nowhere near as bad as people say it was.

Technically.  Mystic Gohan you were our last hit.  So I don't think you lasted the entire game.

The only two townies really still alive were Athrun Zala and Pale.

I dunno why...I guess because I protected Pale from the Slasher, but I didn't want to kill him, so I kept pushing to vote out and hit other people.

I think Pale told so many of us he was a townie that it seemed like voting him off would  look bad, and if you want to be successful as mafia in the game, you really don't want to waste your time on the townie rolls, unless they may be up to something/

When I started this game, I figured that I wouldn't make any Garry's Mod comics. That changed when Pale refused to vote for himself. I really thought that the fact he refused to risk himself meant he had something to hide.

As you saw, I made some for when I was brought back. The model is a Ct_Urban retexture (Not done by me), the closest I could find to a Dark Space Pirate Commando (I love how I had the longest line in the player list). It was meant to rally the townies to listen to me(on addition to my "Apathy is Death" avatar), but it failed.

I was actually planning on making that Law & Order parody, but my death kinda screwed that plan over. Actually, the plot I had laid out in my head was drifting farther and farther from just a Law & Order parody. lemme see if I can remember most of it...

First, it would be a human Unit 34r walking to a house on a rainy night, all eerie and stuff since he's got his knife out and talking about meeting "an old friend'. A woman opens the door and screams, and Unit 34r says the equivalent of "Um, opps". It revealed the woman is a lawyer and Unit 34r's ex-girlfriend (let's call her "Daisy" for now), and they broke up over things like that ("Oh, the knife? It makes me run faster!" Old CS joke, btw). He explains he was part of a mercenary team sent to recover an artifact called the "Virtual Console", had delivered it but had not been given his pay. That artifact hunt scene would be shown as a parody of generic horror movies. The liar was a sorcerer (Vaati), so he couldn't force his way, and needed her help to get his paycheck.

Next begins the Law & Order court parody. Yes, lots of shout of "OBJECTION!" with finger-pointing at totally irrelevant times.  Unit 34r is about to win, but all of a sudden, New World Regime (NWR) goons burst into the room and open fire! Having left his large assortments of weapons at the door, Unity 34 is forced to defend Daisy with the only thing he has: a plastic spoon.  Due to his character shield, he takes out a few of them, but fall eventually. He wakes up in a hospital to learn that NWR has taken over the city and kidnapped Daisy!

Naturally, he grabs a gun and goes out to fight the goons Die Hard style. the "Stormtrooper effect" is in full use, with Unit 34r taking out wave after wave easily. He fights his way to the NWR headquarters, but while breaching it, he falls into the Virtual Console, and get transported 60 years into the future to find the NWR had created an Orwellian future.

It becomes a parody of V for Vendetta, with Unit 34 trying to find out if Daisy is still live. He finds her, but the NWR found he first. She's a mindless soldier in their legions, and Unit 34r is forced to fight this empty shell of her kung-fu style, before realizing he still has his Desert Eagle. He gains access to the Virtual Console again, and transports himself to right before he started time-traveling.

The last parts return to the action movie style, with him fighting his way into the HQ (careful not to fall in) to rescue Daisy. He finds her, and they begin to escape from the rooftop, when an attack chopper, um, attacks. Unit 34r is pinned down, and Daisy grabs a bazooka and destroys the chopper, but gets knocked off the building by the recoil. Naturally, he leaps off the building after her, 007-style. He catches her and uses a suddenly-appearing grappling-hook gadget to save them. when on the ground, Daisy says she's worried, as the NWR might still come back. Right as she says this, the building is wrecked by explosions from bombs Unit 34r placed. After shouting at Unit 34r for being so stupid as to place bombs with timers set so low they wouldn't have been able to get out and that these kinds of things are why the broke up, she starts to walk away. As she's leaving, Unit 34r says "Maybe it's a lunatic you're looking for?". She stops, turns around and smiles. Cue stereotypical kiss with a sunset backdrop. Credits rolls.

...Wow that took a lot of time to type.

Surviving the whole game on the losing side pretty much means I found you to be the most easily manipulated players who posed no threat.

You should have seen the message I got from him when it turned out that people got aboard his terrible bandwagon and he killed me.

It wasn't about trust, it was an inside joke between me and him. RAB didn't need to make a martyr out of me to go far in the game.

So when is tomorrow going to get here?

Anyway, I suppose it's time for another exciting pm retrospective.

Day one:

Quote

to: Khushrenada
Word has reached me that, if you put the lime in the Coke you nut, and drink them both together, it will make you feel good.

Day two:

I send the following note to every living player, except Zach (nothing personal - Zach has just voted for me, and I think it'd be weird to send him a note that didn't mention that):
Quote

to: ShyGuy, TVMan, Vudu, Stevey, Oohhboy, MaryJane, Pittboi, Dasmos, Sessha, Spak-Spang, Crimm, NuclearSpeed, 18 Days, MysticGohan, Thatguy, S-U-P-E-R, Mantidor, Garnee, Athrun Zala
Any ideas? information? leads? I am in desperate need of a clue.

I've had this theory for a while now that, if I pmed every single person in a mafia game, I couldn't lose. I've finally decided to try it out.

I know some people will think I was writing to them personally. I hope they don't feel manipulated and betrayed when I reveal the truth in my exciting pm retrospective.

Anyway, bunch of people reply, and they all basically say that they don't know anything.

Thatguy lets me know pale told him he was a townie. He wonders who might've missed their kill the other night - he says he thinks it might've been the mafia, because the mafia might be holding off to find out more info about people, whereas the slasher has to kill everyone to survive. He says he thinks the new doctor rule is a little one-sided. He says he's a townie. He says he can't figure out why either the mafia or the slasher would go after Garnee. He thinks Garnee wold be the perfect player to keep alive, because he doesn't play. He asks if I've found out anything about Garnee.

Sessha replies that he'd be happy to help, but it'd be good to know whose side I was on.

Quote

to: Sessha
I'm a townie. Whose side are you on?

(He says he's a townie too, and wonders what Stabby and Shift Key were.)

Quote

to: Khushrenada
Here's my message for tomorrow:

I have about as many valuable pieces of information as Diet Coke has calories. Which is to say, I don't have any information.

Day three:

Quote

to: Khushrenada
Ah, hello old friend. So I hear we're finally getting some information today, that's a refreshing change of pace. Refreshing like delicious Coca-Cola.

(Spak-Spang tells me that he's the tough guy.)

Quote

to: Spak-Spang
I'm the stoolie.

(Thatguy says that he's found something. Khush's numbers don't add up, he says, and either the mafia has two of something, or there are extra neutral players, or there are two identity thieves or slashers.)

Quote

to: thatguy
I'm a townie, as well.

You're right, khush's numbers are off. The extra player is probably just a roleless townie.

I doubt that the mafia intentionally held off on killing the other night. I don't think they'd have anything to gain by doing that. The mafia needs to eliminate everyone else to win. I assume it was just a mistake on the part of whoever failed to request a kill.

I haven't found out anything about Garnee's death, I guess we'll see whodunit tomorrow.

Quote

to: thatguy
Oh, I see khush has explained what's going on with the numbers in the players list thread. Forget what I said about that.

Day four:

(Sessha says to vote thatguy, because he's mafia.)

Quote

to: Seshha
What makes you say that?

Quote

to: Khushrenada
So. You're curious about what I, the stoolie, know. That's good. I'll reward your curiosity with a nice Vanilla Coke. Here you go. It's two years out of date, but still delicious.

I suppose I should also tell you what I know. Just between you and me, I think everyone should vote for tvman.

(18 days says that we need to get mafia members voted out now or it's all over. She asks if I know who the detective is, and what the stoolie is doing. She says she suspects thatguy, and that her MysticGohan vote was just a placeholder.)

Day five:

Quote

to: 18 Days
I have no idea who the detective is.

The stoolie has been posting messages. They aren't really interesting or worthwhile, but they're there, buried in khush's story posts.

I think you might be right about thatguy being mafia.

Then I see that the day five thread is already up.

Quote

to: 18 Days
Oho, I take back what I said about the stoolie's messages.

Zach votes for me again.

Quote

to: Zach
Can't we all just get along?

I have now officially pmed every living player.

(Dasmos asks me to elaborate on my reason for wanting a tie.)

Quote

to: Dasmos
Well, I was a little confused about my choice. I thought I was choosing between pale dying, and pale and mantidor and another person dying. I thought mantidor dying would be good because I had a suspicion that he was mafia. And I thought letting pale and mantidor take out another person would also be good because I thought there was a good chance they'd take out a mafia member. ...they probably wouldn't have, in retrospect, even though the mafia was likely behind one of the two bandwagons.

Quote

to: Khushrenada
You're thirsty for refreshment, and knowledge. You should obey your thirst by drinking Sprite, and listening to what I have to say. And what I have to say is this: before Sessha died, he gave me with the following message: "Vote Thatguy he's mafia"

Quote

to: Khushrenada
Sorry I was so late.

Day six:

Thatguy starts a bandwagon against me. I figure no innocents will fall for his arguments, and the only people who will join him will be his fellow mafia members. So, I decide to wait a bit before blowing his arguments wide open.

I realize I've made a huge mistake. Lesson learned: never underestimate a bandwagon.

Quote

to: TVman
I made a big mistake telling people to vote for you. I'm sorry. I realized I was wrong, and that's why, that day, I helped shift the bandwagon over from you to ohhboy.

Listen, we need to forget the past and get rid of the mafia before it's too late. We need to vote out thatguy.

Quote

to: Dasmos, MysticGohan, Spak-Spang, Athrun Zala, NuclearSpeed, Zach, S-U-P-E-R, Pittbboi
I've done some stupid things, but I'm innocent. Thatguy is clearly mafia. He's been defending the mafia member ohhboy. And sessha, who was killed by the mafia, and was likely the townie investigator, said he was mafia. Please, help me vote him out. The townies can't afford any more losses.

Quote

to: Khushrenada
WARIO LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Waha, you didn't even know it was me, did you Waluigi? That's because WARIO IS THE MASTER OF DISGUISE. Actually, I'm the MASTER OF EVERYTHING, especially Mafia, or as I like to call it, WAFIA. Drink Coke.

Day seven:

Quote

to: Vudu
I hate to say this, but, I think thatguy might have been right the other night. It looks like oohboy's role was stolen, which means he might have been the scientist after all. If he was, a member of the mafia is now in possession of the scientist's powers, and we'll be in the dark until we vote him out.

This also means that thatguy might've been innocent, although he might not have. I see no reason to think sessha wasn't on the townies' side, and I can't imagine her making such a firm statement about thatguy's guilt if she didn't have something to back it up.

I didn't read thatguy's posts about this until after voting had closed, so I couldn't do anything about this last night.

I then see Dasmos has pretty much said the same thing in the thread.

(MysticGohan tells me he's not sure who to trust.)

Quote

to: MysticGohan
Well, I'm not guilty, but I wouldn't blame you if you thought I was. It looks like I was way off about oohhboy, and possibly thatguy. I've voted for pale, I hope I'm right this time.

I realize I've made a spelling error in one of my posts: "Augh, how can I be loosing? Wario never looses!"

Quote

to: Khush
You gotta help me Waluigi, I'm still loosing! Look at how loose my overalls are. If I was fat that'd be one thing, but my physique was perfect - I was slim and muscular. The fact that I'm getting thinner is a very bad thing. I'm malnourished, Waluigi. I need money so I can buy more food. You got any gold I could borrow?

Day eight:

I'm excited. I've finally found someone that I am 100% convinced is a mafia member.

Unfortunately, no townies are backing me up. Not even vudu.

Quote

to: vudu
This game may be stupid, but, if we win, imagine the tales that will be told of our great victory. The townies were blind, they'll say. And the mafia was seemingly unstoppable. But the townies never gave up! They found scraps of information, they worked hard, and, against all odds, they won!

Yes.

I'm voted out.

I couldn't play much on day seven. I feel like, if I could have, I might have been able to convince the remaining townies to vote with me, and I might have been victorious. Oh well.

I think I'd like to host one.  It'd totally be a mature gamer's Mafia though.  Lotsa violence, little story.  But everyone would have a role, no matter how many people signed up...
