Nintendo is outselling the PlayStation 3 at a ratio of 2-to-1 over there.

The latest sales figures from Japan are showing that Nintendo has sold 1.95 million Wii consoles from its December 2 launch to a period ending on March 25. Assuming Nintendo has been getting decent shipments out to its home country in the week since then, it's not too far-fetched to believe that the Wii has already broken the two million systems sold mark, just four months after it launched in the region.
Meanwhile, Sony's PlayStation 3 has sold 812,000 units up until the same point. Then again, it did launch about a month earlier on November 11 of last year. At first glance the numbers would indicate that Nintendo is running away with things, but on the other hand, the PS3 had very poor launch quantities—less than 100,000 in the first week—so it's comparatively in much better shape than a few months ago.
We'll see how Nintendo and Sony fared in America sometime next week, when the March NPD sales figures are released.
