Title: Dampe the creator of Ocarina of Time 2d dies
Post by: stevey on March 25, 2007, 11:38:22 AM: Richard "Dampe" the creator of the sprite base OoT 2d died on friday in a car crash. This is really sad, he'd worked so hard on the game for years and now he would never get any credit for his work.

One thing I don't quite understand about this is shelving OOT2D, the guy put alot of work on it and I would think the best way to remember him is to finish it and dedicate it to him. Personally I was never that interested in the game itself, nor did I know him, but I would think he'd want it to be finished and perhaps a way to immortalize himself.

Yeah, I hate how the site is all "Don't aspect the game, respect Dante" when that's like the exact opposite of respecting him.

Actually it was never going to be created. It was never intended to. Dampe, or TheRealMufelsha or whatever he went by on my old board back in the day was not capable of recreating OOT in 2D by himself.

What he did create though, was a Zelda fangame community, and for that, he deserves respect.

This is definately a sick joke if it turns out to be true (I also find it funny how some were harpooning others for being insensitive for doubting his death).
