Title: Ramen Recipes
Post by: Djunknown on March 21, 2007, 02:18:35 PM
Ok, now its in the right thread...

Thanks Kairon and Pap for your suggestions in the misplaced thread...

Anyways, after eating some delicious Ramen, I got to thinking of what could be added/mixed to give it some zing. Since I'm devoid of culinary imagination however, I'm asking the people out there for the tastiest, best, weirdest creations that have Ramen in them.

Up at 'em!

You can add a dash of wasabi for some zing.

When boiling your noodles, add sauages. Eat both and/or also fry an egg or two to put on top. Throw in some veges while boiling and you got a somewhat balanced meal.

Fake crab meat is also a fine choice eat with ramen straight.

I like to take some left over chicken, and tear it up into pieces and drop it into the water when it starts boiling. Then after about 2 mintues I'll add the noodles and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

*I've been meaning to try adding some green onions and maybe some carrots and/or peas, amybe a little chopped celery too*

after about 3-4 minutes, I'll add the (preferably chicken) seasoning that came with the noodles, stir, take off heat and then eat.

Now you have easy chicken noodle soup.

You should also try using smoked sausage.
Cut it up into little bite sized pieces and boil till cooked. Add in your noodles and cook as usual. season to taste. add in (preferrably pork) seasoning, stir, take off heat and then eat.

Cream of chicken ramen is the best.  As said before, add some precooked chunked up chicken to the noodles. For an extra zing that's sure to please, add a few drops of tabasco!

I like to buy those bags of frozen veg's, the ones with potatoes, onions, green beans, green peas, carrots, etc.  Boil them, add the noodles, then the packaged sauce, and then I add whatever hot sauce i currently have.

I usually get this red ground chili paste, I'm not sure what its called but its an asian product with a rooster for a logo.  I also like those hot thai sauces, some of them are really sweet but become very hot tasting sort of like habenero stuff but tastier.

I've done a number of things with ramen over the years.  I've drained the juice and used the noodles in salad.  I've added tuna for a hearty dose of protein (although the taste is questionable).  And I've tried to emulate the professionals by dropping in a hard-boiled egg, some strips of grilled chicken, and some fresh chopped green onion.

I had to develop a product to advertise once in an advertising class. So, i got this idea... "Why should Ramen be just for dinner? Couldn't it be for BREAKFAST TOO?" So, my girlfriend and I developed something we called "Morning Ramen."

It was Apple Cinnamon flavored, complete with diced up apple in it. Instead of using water to make the noodles, we used milk, then poored a little milk on it afterward. It was meant to be served hot, and was quite tasty! Since the noodles were (apparently) pre-salted a little, use of sugar was mandatory. Yum, it was really good!

... ok, it was actually kind of nasty, and we've never made it again. But I invite someone else to try and refine the recipe. There is potential there, I just KNOW it!

Imagine my disappointment when I realized this wasn't "Human Recipes".

Sesame seeds + frozen vegetables.
