AGENTS!

OK, before I turn this into a spam thread, this speech was awesome. I've always loved getting the story behind some of my favorite stuff, and the story of Ouendan/EBA is quite an interesting one.

BTW, there's a mistake on the page. At the end the 'Discuss this in talkback" link sends us to the thread about Zelda.

Elite Wii Agents will be absolutely awesome.

I'd settle for a direct port using pointer control, personally.

A staffer teasing the forum members? Impossible.

The phenomenon we're seeing here is better referred to as a "staff tease".

The Village People embodied some of the ideas he was going for, Yano felt that nobody actually wanted to play as The Village People. The Village People embodied some of the ideas he was going for, Yano felt that nobody actually wanted to play as The Village People.

What's wrong with the Village People? Its wholesome family fun! Maybe a spin-off/derivative! I can see it now: "Quest to became a Macho Man at the YMCA in the Navy!"

Seriously though, Elite Beat Agents on the Wii makes for a good time.  Make it happen Mr.Yano!

OK, here is why I think Ouendan/EBA wouldn't work as well as a point and click game.

Imagine the last level of Ouendan on Hard or Super Hard. That stage is ALL over the screen. Rows of beats cover the corners of the screen at a fast pace, they go up and down and across the screen, and it all goes VERY fast. The only way you can get those beats is by fast tapping movements. In other words, Yano's team designed the whole thing to be efficiently played out on the DS's touch screen.

As everybody knows, the Wii has some problems with its pointing functions. Sometimes the cursor disappears from the screen only to suddenly appear else where. This makes some games like Wario ware a pain to play sometimes.

So if simple pointing games sometimes have trouble playing out simple movements imagine trying to play a really, really fast, reflex heavy, rhythm based pointer game like Ouedan.

Not saying that it can't be done, but the Ouendan/EBA team would have to tweak the DS engine in order to make it Wiimote friendly.

So in short:
DS engine INTACT on the Wii: Could be some problems
Enhanced DS engine on the Wii: Could work

Blues Brothers are Much Much Better then the Village People.  Also I was sort of hoping that the other Agents in the game and Kahn would have come to aid of the agents you were playing in the last mission.
Though this is an example of a team doing a wonderful "localization" of a game.
