Title: First announced 3rd Party Title to support Miis AND WiFi
Post by: Flames_of_chaos on March 08, 2007, 04:44:35 AM
Sega Sammy's Jissen Pachinko/Pachislot Hisshouhou! Sammy's Collection Hokuto no Ken Wii is the first announced 3rd party title to support it well in Japan so I suppose we can call BS on that 3rd party restriction on Miis and Wifi connection.
And heres the evidence: [ <---- Ahh the Shiny blue Wifi logo isn't bound to the console emblem boundary anymore <--- Awesome Mii usage right there

Well even if no body except japan likes pachinko this is interesting because the 3rd party restrictions are pure BS.

Ah, but you see, now that the No-3rd-Party-Wifi-or-Miis complaint has been disproven, the BS spreaders will say it doesn't count because it's a Japanese release game or it sucks (aka, they're not interested.)
Because the problem they had really wasn't with a lack of 3rd party online play or 3rd party use of Miis, but some other issue they have with Nintendo. They just complained about it because it was an easy thing to point to.
Edit: My point is proven before I even finish the post! (see above)

Yeah I agree. Its the usage of Miis that makes me happy, though.
I hope more third parties follow suit and use Miis.

Would Japan and the USA use the same network?
I seem to remember hearing at some point that Pokemon was to launch with Wii in Japan *and* have Wifi at the same time. I don't think that happened (haven't kept up with it) but the point I'm making (or so I convince myself, I am somewhat sick right now so I could be talking out of my ass) is that Japan != America when it comes to online.
Which means this doesn't really help us out unless we're in Japan. And I'm not.

Is "Jissen Pachinko/Pachislot Hisshouhou! Sammy's Collection Hokuto no Ken Wii" really the title of the game? I've read doctoral theses shorter than that. Or I might have, if I read doctoral theses.

It's an online scoreboard, though. It's not the game itself which is online.
Elebits already allowed level trading through wifi so it's not out of the question, but it's a full-fledged online game which we want (Mario Strikers will supposedly be online).

Well it would really depend if the publisher wants a worldwide server or a regional server(s) for a game. If the game has a world wide server it would connect to that world wide server, if the server is regional then lets put it this way a US-NTSC game will connect to the US server, a JPN-NTSC would connect to the JPN server and the PAL with the PAL servers and so on. It would really depend on the set up the programmers implement.

At least it's better than the other guy, who re-posted this information in the same thread as I did..

Pachinko is pretty big in Japan. I remember that the few PS2 games that broke in Nintendo's top 10 Media create numbers last year... that quite a few of such non-nintendo titles were pachinko games.
