Title: Mysims. EA is really puttin in work
Post by: Taija-Herbal on February 26, 2007, 05:47:49 AM
Me thinks this is gonna be a unique playing game and its also being developed from the ground up for the wii... Never really gotten into any of the sims games, but i'm looking forward to how this one pans out....

EA is showing alot of early love..

Now we need Konami to get in on it with Pro evolution soccer that would be it (as far as the UK (Europe) is concerned), if they could somehow incorporate wiimote functionality into that.. for example when you pass u can use the wiimote to aim left or right. or aiming up for a loop n stuff like that'll be really cool........ Konami are you listening

oh got the news here... http://www.portableplanet.co.uk/2007/02/26/mysims-coming-to-nintendo-wii-ds/

OH GOD this game has captured my heart! The art style is brilliant, and I can't wait to see how building houses works because the simplified block structure they give the game instead of the more complex PC-style houses truly strikes me as innovative and streamlined!

Sure, the block-based houses are much less complicated than the full architecture PC style houses, but they have a rapidity and charm that's absolutely vibrant!

I can't wait for the DS version too, which I plan on getting because it sounds equally awesome! Do you guys think there will be some Wii - DS functionality in this MySims game?

Any rumor of online for this?

This game actually has me pretty excited. It seems like EA is going after the Animal Crossing crowd. This game is a HOLY S*T MUST HAVE for me if there's any online components.

EA...who would have thought...?

No; EA's rushing it out the door in order to beat Animal Crossing Wii to market.  If they waited to put in online they'd get creamed by Nintendo's own offering.

I remember saying this before and being disagreed with.

However, I'm looking forward to this game, but not to play it. It's a ground up game for the Wii that will sell. I liked the SimCity games, never got into just "The Sims". As long as exclusive games are being made for the Wii, I'm happy.

I'm curious as to how My Sims does compared to Animal Crossing...

I almost think this game is going to be a KILLER APP. I mean, just watch the latest, very thorough walk-through!

It's uber long, but if you stick around for the whole thing, the possibilities are amazing.

am I the only one who just don't see these type of games work on a console? I play AC: Wild World daily and I completly fall in love with the game, but is portability what makes it great, because these are games to play for a few minutes, I just can't see myself enjoying AC on the GC, much less the mysims wii version, I might check the DS one but really AC has a special kind of charming personality that I know won't be here, so I'm not that interested.

Funny, I'm exactly opposite Mantidor. I tired of AC on the DS FAST, and my favorite memories of Harvest Moon were on a console (the N64). I equate relaxing with more sitting on a couch and just vegging... but that's just me. I use my DS in uncomfortable situations: on car trips, or lying on the bed before sleeping.

No online mode?

Failure.

Yeah, because The Sims Online was such a smashing success.

Seriously, I wish people would stop and think before wanting to slap online onto each and every game like it'd magically improve it.

MySims isn't The Sims Online.

It's not about slapping online onto the game. Slap online to any game and online would suck. Is it impossible to imagine robust online features? I'm not saying the entire game fails without an online mode. Rather, MySims had serious potential for community interaction.

If you can't use your imagination, I'm not going to do it for you. Instead of thinking how it can't work, try thinking how it can. It's not that hard.

Hmm... aside from turning it into Animal Crossing (which is actually a completely different focus from the Sims), or The Sims Online... offering downloadable content, both free (the occassional item pack)and at small prices (mini-expansions, because The Sims loves expansions)?

The problem is with how to keep true to the nature of the Sims, which are essentially player-focused god-games. Even Will Wright's latest, Spore, isn't so much online as "download other player's species to make up my world instead of having the computer make 'em up," a dynamic which wouldn't work here.

Going further, a Second-Life-esque MySims MMO might work, except that MMOs come with their own big problems too, and that it would be less Sims and more... well... cute texture sharing second-life.

Of course not but if you do it a bear will come into your house to join the fun.

MySims not being online is not a huge deal if the experience is great. Like others have said the Sims series has pretty much been a single player experience. Even the first Animal Crossing was a single player experience besides the unique trade system and I think we can come to a common consensus that it was far from a failure.  What makes games like MySims, AC, and even the Sims series so special isn't the online aspects, but the ability to live out a mini-life a few minutes each day. With that said is it possible the game could have online trading? Personally I think that would be a fair trade off, but if it doesn't come to fruition, oh well, I am still excited to see what EA can do with this (Can't believe I'm saying that).
