Title: Wal-Mart = 10 Wiis, 0 PS3s...WTF?
Post by: BranDonk Kong on February 14, 2007, 05:55:07 AM
I don't really care, especially since Wii is DESTROYING PS3 in every region, but it was pretty shocking. I've NEVER seen a Wii in stock in any store before this, and have seen PS3s consistently almost any time I go to any electronics store, but today was the total opposite. If anyone lives in Brevard County, FL and needs a Wii, go to the Wal-Mart on Palm Bay Rd.

Dammit! And here I am stuck in a blizzard in NH...

Those Wiis will be gone in no time.

Maybe you saw that shortly after they got a shipment of Wiis in and maybe they finally sold all the PS3s and didn't bother to restock or even order any more but haven't gotten around to changing what product would go on that shelf space just yet.

Kill the bugs that are hoarding the light!  And you will also revert to your human form!

...oops, sorry, confused "Twilight Zone" with "Twilight Relam"...

It's funny, I'm still set in "BUY THE WIIS!!!!" mode, even though I don't technically need them.

I'd like one for my parent's house, but their TV is on the fritz so it doesn't even matter...

Looks like WiiBay is still pricing them at +/- $50 ahead of retail...

I actually saw 3 Wiis in a Walmart a couple of weeks ago.  And I went and got my "college supplies"  (trail mix, Ramen Noodles, Coca Cola.)  Took about 10 minutes.  When I came back, some dude was walking out with a Wii and I looked at where they were and there was one left, but the cashier said it was being held for somebody (I dunno if that was store policy or right or whatever, but I didn't press the issue).

Goofy, to say the least.

That isn't store policy.

Every WM I've talked to has said "first come, first serve".

Well, i think it's more of a "if they want to" policy.  If you can find an associate who will put one under the counter for you I don't think management will complain.  It's just when store employee's hold stuff back for themselves is when management gets mad and associates can get in trouble.

I'd assume that only workswhen the clerk is a good friend of yours.

True!  Retail rules are made to be broken by friends.

I'd say this is a sign that Wii is finally catching up with demand.  I'm reminded of the period a couple of weeks before Christmas where PS3 started becoming a bit easier to find.  I'd hear people on the web saying they saw a few in a store somewhere, but I couldn't just walk into a random store and expect to find one (unless you live near KDR).

I guess Nintendo is actually going to have to start trying with the marketing and the new games soon.

Wal*Mart has stopped stocking PS3's because they don't sell. :P
