yeah but to be fair PCs have vastly different standards to they have to make it wrk on lower end systems to sell more copies.

You forgot to mention that it doesn't support the mouse - it's keyboard only.
This is a new low in console-to-PC ports, even for Capcom.

PC games need to be SCALABLE. That means they have to cater to a range, not necessarily set the max details really low. Considering the age of the 'Cube and PS2, a decent port probably shouldn't need to sacrifice any visuals even for a low-end gaming rig.
Unless the person who took those screenshots was playing with the settings turned WAY down, the game's graphics engine was just very lazily ported (a lazy console to PC port? Unheard of). Plus, no mouse aiming = fail.

They are just getting it ready to port to PSP.

i second that PSP theory. I bet it'll be a compilation, Resident evil 4 compilation, the best parts of resident evil 4 on your PSP!

I must be missing it...
Besides the lack of mouse control, what's so bad about the shots? Looks alright to me.
Edit: Looked at a few more shots of the graveyard and it seems like it's a bit brighter than it's supposed to be. Brightness issue? Overal looks to use the GC textures and the PS2 lighting (kinda... like I said some areas look to bright)
Overal, it looks fine though.

It is the almost complete lack of any lighting, even the fire in the first set of shots looks like it is not putting out any light. The laser is too clean. Also there doesn't seem to have any shader effects or texture effects of any kind. Also the PC version for some reason has no color in its textures like if almost everything has been converted to grey scale or 1bit. the thebtexture resolution is also very inconsitant.

your assuming every one upgrades thier poc regulary. Rememebr the GC still has pretty beefy hardware compared to most off the shelf pcs even by todfays standards, integrated video cards always are very low end. We are talking gaming rigs we are talking PC period, and besides which the game doesnt even look as bad as has been reported. And again the poster could have had the settings to low anyways. we dont knwo that.

My first thought was actually "that doesn't look so bad." Of course, the last game I got working on a computer I own was Descent: Freespace back in '99. We do not "buy" "memory" very often in our household, sadly.

Those who don't upgrade their PC or even use integrated graphics aren't the target market for games. Integrated graphics won't run anything above first gen Dreamcast level and I don't think RE4 can be scaled down that far.

*avoids commenting about the beautiful Ada Wong*
I can't see the pics, since I'm at work. But it sounds pretty bad.
So the cut-scenes are recorded as video for the PS2 version and then further recompressed for the PC? Boo. They should be rendered real-time like the original GCN version.
Then again, videos would be easier to rip straight from the game for other use. If only someone would record the GCN's cutscenes directly and at extremely high-quality!

If it had any sort of lighting, it would look fantastic. I've been playing it using a wired Xbox 360 controller, so it's basically identical to playing the Gamecube version, just at a much higher resolution and without the awesome lighting...and with horrendous videos. Seriously, they look like they should be on the GBA or something.

What do they give you in the way of bonus missions/costumes/weapons, etc? Everything that was in the PS2 version? Anything exclusive?

It better have both "Assignment Ada" and the PS2 Ada side-story "Separate Ways".
I played the GCN version so "Separate Ways" is really the only point of playing this game again.

I think I'd get nothing if I bought that, they already removed all end-of-game unlockables from the GC version here.

If the cut scenes are just videos, maybe they can be viewed or extracted for viewing relatively easy.
Ada's legs will be more clear in the apparent daytime.

The videos are plain old MPEGs. You can just go to the CAPCOM\biohazard 4\movie folder and watch them with literally any media player. Assignment Ada definitely has to be in the game, since all of the cutscenes from her "game" are in that directory. I've never played Separate Ways. so I don't know if it has any of it's own cutscenes or not in the PS2 game.

It has some of those scenes, but I don't think it has all of them. Ada dropping down and the crows fly away are there, and when she shoots the rope-gun thingie and trips the Ganado is in there. Actually I looked a little more and most of, if not all, of those scenes are in there. There's also another scene that I've never seen before where it ends with "Biohazard: The Another Order" after the bell rings and they all leave. I'm guessing maybe that's the name of the Ganados in the Japanese version?

suppousedly it does, but since I don't have the game I can't say for sure...

Awesome, as the rope-gun tripping/flipping thing is in the opening of Separate Ways, meaning that it's in the PC version. Now I don't have to miss out. There's often a way out of getting a PS2 game, or a PS2 version of a game (considering that I don't have a PS2). That way is usually a PC port, sure... (PC and GameCube FTW!)
After I get the game, I'll probably be asking for a system save file that has Separate Ways unlocked if I can't make the time to replay the main game. Still, I guess it's one of those games that's worth replaying, if only to see glimpses of Ada in the context of the story (rather than drooling over the .MPEGs or .AVIs on the disc)...
