Dance with your feet, and shake with the Wii remote at the same time.

KONAMI ANNOUNCES DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION HOTTEST PARTY FOR WII™

The World-Famous Dance Party Gets Even Hotter on Nintendo's New Generation  Console with Physically Engaging Wii Remote™ Functionality and New Modes of  Play

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. February 2, 2007 Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.  today announced Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party™ exclusively for the  Wii™. Seamlessly integrating the timeless gameplay of the Dance Dance  Revolution (DDR) series with the unmatched interactivity of the Wii Remote,  DDR Hottest Party provides the most dynamic dance action to date with  several new modes of play, an all-new selection of hit songs and support for  simultaneous four-player dancing.

Combining the traditional mat-based gameplay of the Dance Dance Revolution  series with the motion sensing Wii Remote, DDR Hottest Party lets players  move their whole body as they dance for a physical and immersive gameplay  experience. While matching the directional arrows with their feet on the  dance mat, players will also make specific movements with the Wii Remote and  Nunchuk™, adding even more complexity to each song as they dance alone or  with up to three other players across a variety of new game modes, including  fun new mini-games.

Taking advantage of the motion-based gameplay opportunities provided by the  Wii Remote and Nunchuk, Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party features  several new modes of play that test players' dancing skills, coordination,  endurance and teamwork. In the new Friendly Synch multiplayer mode, each  player must step on the correct arrow or make the right Wii Remote movement  in unison for it to count. The game also includes an updated Battle Mode and  a new Support Mode in which players can dance cooperatively. Fan favorite  modes such as Free Play and Workout Mode will return with new twists that  utilize the Wii Remote for an entirely new dancing experience. Continuing  the series' tradition of standout hit dance music, Dance Dance Revolution  Hottest Party will feature a new and exclusive soundtrack packed with  chart-topping songs from the last four decades across a variety of genres.

Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party will launch for the Wii in 2007. For  more information, please visit www.konami.com.

If this turns out right, there will be no stopping Nintendo this time around. Except of course a lackluster online performance... Time will tell...time will tell.... "Tell what? I'm just a clock!" Shut up clock! Just shut up!

If there's ANY game that can easily get additional on-line content, its this one. NO excuses. None. Zilch. Nada. Nein.

This would be the part where'd I say let's see what happens at e3, then I realize its about 5 months away Guess I'll forget about it until we get more info...

an all-new selection of hit songs

If they make good on that promise, than this will be the DDR to own, for sure.

The biggest issue with buying DDR games is that Konami has a terrible tendency to recycle 50 songs from previous DDR games and add about 7-10 new songs and call it a new game. Even more contemptible is asking players to pay for new songs online which they can typically already get from other DDR games.

This is the primary reason my friends and I opted for Stepmania: even with the $600 for two pads, it's cheaper than paying $50-60 a pop for DDR games which won't have much in the way of new songs.

But with a new library and four player modes, this becomes AWFULLY tempting...

It would be so awesome if this game made use of SD cards, allowing players to make their own custom dance steps, maybe even use their own MP3s, and then upload their custom songs/steps to the internet for everyone to try.

I personally do not want to see that feature because dance factory on the PS2 was a disaster, after the game loaded you put a CD in with your songs then it automatically generates steps for the song "as accurately as possible" but the problem was that the step generator Codemasters put in was so broken that the dance steps the game generated was so out of sync it wasn't funny.

that was dance factory, this is ddr. Im shure if they did it it'll turn out better than that ddr ripoff.  Thats like being afraid of nintendo straying too far from the traditional Zelda formula and making it suck only because the zelda CD-I games were bad.

Tansunn also suggested allowing players to make their own steps, completely bypassing faulty automatic generators...

You should be able to "dance off", improvising new steps on the spot, then challenging other players to follow those steps immediately after you perform them!

I had that idea, but then I realized that people would "step spaz" and make the most impossible steps for the other player to attempt.

Also, this should be "MiiDR" which will use Miis instead of the typical dancers.
