Farrell announced that both the Wii and Nintendo DS would be getting a WWE game during THQ's 2008 fiscal year, which runs from April 2007 to March 2008. It was not said if the games would be versions of THQ's main Smackdown! vs. RAW series, or original games for the Nintendo consoles. An exact release date was not mentioned either, but given the popularity and strength of the WWE brand, it would not be surprising to see the game release on both platforms before Christmas 2007.
The WWE game is one of the 11 that THQ plans to bring to the Wii in the upcoming year. The eleven are known to include two Pixar movie games: Ratatouille, a game based off the new movie set to release this year, and a sequel to the Cars movie game, which was one of last year's box office successes.
THQ also forecast hardware sales for each console. The publisher expects between 5 to 5.5 million Wii consoles to be shipped in North America this year, along with 7 to 7.5 million DS units. For comparison, they project 5 to 5.5 million new Xbox 360s and 3 to 3.5 million new PlayStation 3s to show up in the region during the same time period.
Nintendo World Report will bring you more information on THQ's 2007 lineup as soon as it becomes available.
