Title: Any word on a Paper Mario for NDS?
Post by: Koekoenutt on January 22, 2007, 10:33:02 AM
Hello everyone. Sorry if this thread was already made here, I tried searching around the section and couldn't find anything. I was just reading a thread in the Wii section about the new Super Paper Mario for the Wii, and I couldn't help but try to look for a sequal on the DS on the internet. I find it strange with the huge success of the Nintendo DS, that there hasn't been any news/rumors about a Paper Mario coming to the portal system. I think with the success of RPGs on the NDS too, that Nintendo would be interested in doing something along these lines. I understand that the new one is in the process of being made by the developers, but just being able to know that they were thinking of doing one afterwards would be comforting.

I know Square developed Super Mario RPG, but I know they have had success with FF3 and still making FF for the GBA, that maybe they would have also thought of something along these lines, for a long awaited Square sequal. Although, I'm not really to sure where that series went after Square kind of parted away fron Nintendo. Also, Would anything with the Paper Mario series trouble Square legally in making a Mario RPG sequal?

Well, Intelligent Systems is developing Super Paper Mario. They are also handling Fire Emblem for the Wii, so they have their hands full.. this could be released in the future though.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo plans to stick with Mario & Luigi for handhelds, but who knows?

I actually haven't ran into Mario & Luigi : Partners in Time until just recently when I saw it in the store. I picked up a Nintendo DS Lite in the beginning of December, becuase I was planning to sit outside Toys R Us for a Wii, and I didnt want to be empty handed, so I'm sort of new when it comes to the whole Nintendo DS library of games. I really think my DS has been an awesome investment, and sometimes.. dare I say it.. I'm happier with my DS than I am with my Wii. I think thats due to the month I put away my DS, to waste away a few weeks playing my Wii non stop with Excite Truck, WiiSports, and Zelda. I have a nice collection of games so far, but I was really iffy about picking up Mario & Luigi. I don't know if thats becuase I had other interests for the games I bought at the time, or if it looked like it was missing something, but reading the reviews now.. I see that it has gotten good reviews and wonder why I haven't picked this title up. Being a huge fan of Super Mario RPG and the Paper Mario Series, how excited should I be to pick this game up? Would I rather wait till I can find it used, or is this a must have title for the DS?

It's a great game. However if I were you I would get M&L Superstar Saga for GBA, as I thought that the original was more fun.

I liked Partners in Time better, myself, but they're both excellent.  Pick up whichever one you can find if you love other Mario RPGs.

Edit: To be fair, Partners in Time is a lot shorter, which is something most people consider bad.  Personally I don't care too much about games being "short" anymore.

Superstar Saga was already too short
