Title: Mario...for the XBOX 360!
Post by: NWR_pap64 on January 21, 2007, 12:01:06 PM
I don't know if this story is real or not, but its too funny to let it pass.
Apparently the woman was insistent on getting Mario for her son's 360 to the point where even when the guy proved her wrong far too many times to count she was STILL dead set on getting Mario for the 360.
I would've lost it and screamed my head off at her, even if it costs me my job.

That is funny. I've worked retail before, so I know his pain.
I would have tried to find out specifically what game it was she was looking for, and once we found that out, assuming it was for GC, I would have not only sold her that game but I would have sold her a GC too and just called it an attachment.
She kinda gets what she wants, and I would get her out of the store. win win situation.

I would have claimed that I'm not the X-Box guy and point her to a co-worker.

I've worked video game retail. This isn't a common occurrence, but it's happened.
We had a woman bring in her son's PS2 to as why it wouldn't play the game she bought for it. She demanded a refund (for the system AND the game).
It was a PC game.

I honestly have a short fuse with these kind of people, so I'm glad I don't work in retail...

I've never understood why stupid customers make retail employees so angry. I'm bothered by angry customers, but stupid ones? I just find them amusing.
...oh, but I see the woman was both stupid and angry. That's another thing entirely.

The user that commented on the article mentioned this: "much politer than us, when the expletives start coming I call security and have them kicked out, I'm not putting up with that."
He has a point. When a customer resorts to insults and humiliation that's when the line should be drawn.

There was a kid at school who insisted that Mario was on X-box. He now claims never to have said such a thing. BUT I KNOW THE TRUTH.

It was probably this b*tch's son. You should kill him to ensure the family line ends.
I'll never understand how life doesn't weed out people like this. Logic dictates that, if a person is a total tool to other human beings, one of those human beings will have the common decency to snuff them.
I'm not exaggerating in this either: non-premeditated murder has to happen for a reason and this one sounds as good a reason as any.

This whole story reaks of made up, especially the cell phone portion. I know customers do ask for that sort of thing, I've simply been in a store several times when crazy assumptions have been made. Mario on a non-Nintendo platform, PC game for a console, Microsoft owning Sega/Sonic (Dreamcast boot screen proves it!)

Do me and yourself a favor, go watch the movie Idiocracy starring Luke Wilson, you can thank me later .
Its a movie done by the guy that did Office Space and it has similarities to to Futurama. If you like comedies you'll like this movie.

The story maybe made up, but having worked retail, I have absolutely no doubt that something like this has happened already.
I would have handled it far differently. I would have tried to sell them a Ninitendo system. But the moment the f bomb gets pulled out, they are out of the store.
They say the customer is always right, but that is BS. I am not an ATM, I WILL correct you when you are wrong, I will do my best to help you, but if you can't remain civil, you will be elminated with extream prejudice and glee.

I'm with oohhboy. When the customer starts getting rude, you be rude right back. If they're wrong, you let them know.

There is only one answer to this situation:
"Door's to your left."

I miss the simpler days. Two companies, mascot characters, very little in the way of cross platforms.
That and it was easy to make pirate games, so you could probably find a Chinese sprite-redraw with Mario cast as Sonic.

I heard a couple of young women ask for Donkey Kong on the PS2 at a game store recently. There was lots of snickering once they left.

you think thats bad IO had a vide game employee tell me Microsoft onwend Zelda and that it was in fact on xbox. Turns out he had a modded xbox and it did have zelda but he was really stupid all the way around, he even was convinced that MS owned Sega and Sold Sonic to Nintendo.
