Title: Wii + Cell Phone + Bluetooth = I need an SD Card?
Post by: UncleBob on January 06, 2007, 01:11:14 AM
As I've mentioned, I got a fancy new cell phone.

It's got a camera.  It's got Bluetooth.

So why do I need an SD card to send pictures to my Wii?

I never thought about this before, since I never had a use for it, but now that I do, it just seems like it'd be a common sense thing for them to do, allow OBEX transfer of photos to the Wii from your cell phone.

You can e-mail them to your Wii.

If you do get an SD Card, don't get snookered into getting Nintendo's Official Wii SD Card. It's just like every other SD Card except it has the Nintendo seal on it. Lame.

It's not Nintendo's oficial SD card it's SanDisc's Official Wii SD card. Just like how SanDisc and Sony has an official PSP Memorystick ProDuo card.

That's the first time I've ever seen the use of the word "snookered".

On the subject, it would be exceedingly excellent if they allowed the Wii to transfer data from bluetooth devices such as phones and palms, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

As cool as it would be, it just truly seems above and beyond the call of duty for Nintendo.

From what I've dealt with, it takes less time to transfer a picture via BlueTooth than it does to copy it to the card, take the card out, put it in the adapter (most phones take Micro or Mini SD Cards - thus you'd need an SD card adapter), then put it into the Wii (and don't forget to take it out and put it back into your phone!)...

E-mail Bob, e-mail (picture message). Of course, if you don't have picture messaging as part of your phone plan, it'll cost you. BlueTooth is an incredibly slow connection.

Sending pictures via BlueTooth would be much faster than sending them via e-Mail.  And, BlueTooth is always free.

As far as I know (which is limited), all the hardware is there to let this happen... It just needs some software to make it work...
