lol, alot of U.S. gamers probably have the same wait, fortunately I was able to get one after waiting 9 hours in line.  It was worth every freaking minute!

Too poor right now. I got burned by a store that I was going work at. So now I am in a race to a new job after an imposed holiday.

I hope I never see that guy again or murder be done. Or atleast a swift kick around the head.

Bah, my Wii is still "stuck" in Cali.
Amazon took a week to ship it to my friend and he hasn't been able to send it yet.
Man, I feel so unlucky...

After doing my research i am 98% certain it's going to sell out by 1201am on December 8. Sadly for me, the games will arrive before the console does. At least the place i'm getting it from is next to london bridge, so i can literally go straight home and play.

Amazon.co.uk sold out of their entire pre-order in 7 minutes, beat that!

Actually, Amazon.com sold out of their launch units in less than 30 seconds. I know for a fact, I was there, spent the whole day on the comp and snatched one (got very lucky, for once!).
Now I want to play with my Nintendo Wii, I can't wait anymooooore!

I know a good few people who went to amazon.co.uk, like i did, and the browsers crashed upon trying to purchase it.

swat cats... wow swat cats, not in so long.

but yes i waited 34 hours in walmart of the PS3, to sell ofcourse. so a 12 hour wait wont be that bad at all... i just want to play those excellent quality VC games! and TP!

It's hard to believe I'm the only obsessive nerd 'round these parts that has too many issues to stomach standing in a Wal-Mart for 12+ hours, complete with a gaggle of creepy strangers hovering around the whole time.

Ignore Mario, he's counting for the wrong continent.

My tolerance for waiting is about 5 minutes so if I can't get a Wii with that I won't get a Wii and instead do something more fun with that time.

Finally got an email through from Gamestation confirming my pre-order. I'm Still completely undecided whether to actually pick one up. I was actually going to cancel the pre-order but then I just couldn't go through with it - it felt wrong...

Yeah I had major difficulties trying to get a Wii on Amazon.co.uk that morning. Well I ended up not getting one actually. Luckily Smyths had some. (It's an irish toy shop chain I don't think you have any in the rest of the UK. Slight perk of living in NI I guess). So just have to take the day off and go to the shop as it opens at 9am. Can't wait!!!!!!!!

btw thejeek whats making you want to cancel your preorder?

Lots of stuff - not convinced by launch titles, doubts about the controller, think machine is overpriced for what's inside it, just don't have the excitement I felt about the Cube. I'm going to give it six months or so and see how the software line up is starting to look - when both Super Mario Galaxy and Metriod Prime 3 are released and reviewed and it's clear how developers and publishers are treating the system and how the remote is being used, then I'll reconsider.

Right now I think it's probably fairer to let someone who wants one badly to get it really - there's no point in me depriving someone else of one when I'm not that excited.

SUCCESS!

I have been able to secure a wii one day early! I'm off to get it straight after work.

YAY! My Wii is finally here!!! (well, at the post office, I have to wait for a little more than an hour to get it)
So that means I'm still getting it a day early than European launch. Oh joy.

Do you have one and want to get extras or is that your first one you're talking about?
Title: RE: One more week!

First store had no units that weren't preordered (I'd assume that means they also had some preorders that weren't filled, it's one of those stores that I don't expect to limit preorders correctly). To reach the remaining 5 stores I wanted to check would require a train journey and waiting for 15 minutes until the train arrives. Nothing is more annoying than waiting for a train to arrive. During that time I thought about the whole deal and figured I don't want the Wii TP anyway (no camera controls = no sale, lack of camera controls can make me go from enthusiastic to frustrated and done with the game in less than a minute if I get hit because the camera refused to show something), if anything I'd buy the GC version. That'd leave me with Wii Sports and Wii Play which I expect to last about as long as Sawaru Made in Wario. I.e. I'd play for a day or two and after that the thing is used for its backwards compatibility until new games arrive. While I don't think the games will take as long to arrive as they did for my DS (which I got from Lik-Sang 5 months before the European release) that'd still be months of having a console that's useless. So the hype wore off and I returned to my previous oppinion about the Wii: Wait until later. So I went home.

I had spread my attention over multiple places to see who would get me a wii first.
But it's still the first one i'm getting - i'm only after one. Which I am getting on monday. SUCCESS. Problem is, i finish college at 1230 and finish work at 2000, so even though i'll have wii with me all day i won't be able to play

In other news, people who were queueing up outside HMV Oxford Street (some from tuesday) were sent home because of police fears.

Tsk, KDR.  The controls are BETTER than GameCube.  I absolutely know what you're talking about, I far preferred Wind Waker's controls to the N64 games mostly due to the camera, but aiming and throwing are both much easier on Wii and the camera controls are improved over the N64 games.  The sword control isn't technically better, but it's more fun.

But I suppose I shouldn't be making you feel bad! You may still like the Cube version better since I seem to remember you played Wind Waker first of all.

Well I've gone and done it - wasn't at all sure but I've finally got a Wii. I'm far from conviced so far by the wiimote as a control mechanism but it's better than I expected. Verdicts so far - Wii Sports looks like it'll be fun but not with only one controller Rayman plays OK but dear me it doesn't half look like ass, finally, Super Monkey Ball - pretty good, looks good, plays well - main game at least. Again - only one controller - that's what I get for strolling in at 9AM instead of queuing up at midinight like everyone else!

I get an urge to hurt game designers whenever I get hit by something the camera didn't show despite my attempts to make it. I'll take horrible aiming over the frustrations of an uncontrollable camera any day. The camera is what made me stop playing Devil May Cry 3 in disgust at the third boss (try reflecting bullets when you only see them a split second before impact, the only way to do that is spam sword attacks and hope something connects). Failing when I feel I didn't do anything wrong zeros my motivation. Same reason I hate racers with rubberbanding or blue shells.

I've had very few instances of not seeing what's coming after me in Twighlight Princess, but we'll see, the swimming area that I just started is set to make things a bit worse.

Swimming always makes things worse.  Actually it's not bad.  Wii Sports do the training.  Trust me.  Do the trainings.  Especially the bowling one which is the best overall game in the pack.

Who were you talking or responding to with that bit?
