That about says it all.

So? I don't about the rest of you, but I "walked into a retailer on launch day and just picked up a system."
Any word on nunchuks? That's what I really need.

Midnight for the 24-hour, right?
The only question is: will they let me wait inside?

They should since this is not a release, and if there is a lot of people waiting it may change. Whitewater has a little paper signs that they will have more Wiis then. Well I didn't exactly walk into the Wal-Mart I stood outside for 10 hours, then we were marched in an orderly line.

When I waited at launch for my Wii they contained us in the temperature controlled Lawn and Garden area away from the general populace.

Well you were lucky they kept us outside in a little corner, what sucks it started raining and it was cold after dark. (There was a grandmother who was first in line and she was sitting there since 8:00 am Friday.)

I'll just walk right in on Wednesday and get one. My roommate is hiding it and we already got screwed by his work so they won't even try to screw us again...or they'd lose their best electronics employee.

Uncle Bob, does this mean they are not and/or can't sell Wii before "8AM"? Or is it that the shipments come in the night before after most stores are closed??
and thanks for the tip.

I'm assuming most stores already have them or should have them very soon. We do.
And the register simply will *NOT* allow us to sell them unti 8 AM, December 6th. Apparently, most areas will have this advertised in their flyer - so expect competition.

Why is there any restriction? It's past launch. Only reason would be that Walmart wants to hold stock for an Ad promotion.

Hmm, I could have sworn my Wal Mart said December 3rd (when I asked them how long they could hold onto a unit to replace my broken Wii with.)

Wait you went through Walmart instead of directly through Nintendo? You could have kept you defective one till Nintendo sent a new console unit (Just the actual Wii part). It be only $5 bucks but there waving that right now.

Jeez, 3? I am supposed to keep it on the DL but Circuit City or the one close to me anyway is stockpiling them for Sunday. They have about 20 in the back already and the town I live in is only 40,000. I was gone around launch though so maybe they had a really small launch allocation?

My local Walmart says otherwise.

As far as I know it's December 3 for all other retailers so check Sunday and you/I should get one.

I think almost all of us that want one have gotten one by now, but did anybody see how this went? Are there still people lining up or is it getting easier to find one?

I actually was one of the people who stood inline for this Walmart re-release. The store had gotten 14, but they had previous rainchecks to honor so it boiled down to 8. I stopped by with my girls to see what was happening at 6:30pm Tuesday and there were two people in line. I wanted to stay but I was not prepared. So I finally made it back out at 10pm. And I was number 8. Talk about luck. The second person who was there had some issues with his wife and was no longer in line (thats the gossip anyway), and some other person was orbitting the line before and dissappeared, promising to return while failing to do so.
We sat there in that Walmart for way too long. But at long last I have my system and Zelda. I have yet to hook it up and try it out, but I did register my stuff with Nintendo .
While there we heard stories of other Walmarts forcing their line to stay outside (as that was the official direction from home office). We were very happy to be in the old layaway section, out of the cold.
In the line there were 3 grandmas, 1 mom, 2 casual gamers and 2 hardcore gamers. And I was stuck explaining everything that this Wii thing can do. Everyone felt they were getting their money worth.
BTW, Walmart christmas bonus discount FTW! (isn't that right uncle Bob?) :P

Don't ask me, I didn't get to use mine on my Wii, since I got mine before December 1st. >

Drove to my local Walmart and arrived at 3 am on the 6th. Luckily I was the first, and a line had not started yet. The line did not form until around 5 am, and the nine Wiis were accounted for by 5:05 am. That said, there were about another 20-25 people that showed up before the time tickets were handed out, 7:50 am.
All I have to say is that it was really cold, and I lost my voice since I got home from Walmart. That said, the Wii was worth the wait.

I'm surprised that even now people are waiting like the original launch.

I got a second Wii today (it's for my little brother, I picked it up for my Mom) at Wal-Mart. I showed up at 6:45, I was the 36th person in line, but some people were just waiting with friends, so I ended up being #28 out of 31 total systems. There was probably 45 people in line at one point, but they left when the tickets were passed out. Even then about 10 more people followed the line to the layaway section in hopes of getting one. The total sales after this week passes have GOT to be at the very least 1.6 million.

Well my brother and I each got a Wii on the first day. (Fights have been known to break out so ever since we buy at least two of each console that we use the most.)
But one of my friend who were looking to get one went to a WalMart to inquire about the Wii, and they ask how did you know we are getting more. (They were just posted all over their doors....)

Interesting stories. I'm also impressed that people are still lining up. I thought that by mid-December they'd be easy to get.

If stores sold their stock as it was received rather than keeping them stockpiled them in the back and holding them to a set date and time like it were a mini-launch you wouldn't have this problem. These stores are trying to generate additional hype and are causing more harm in the process.

I got mine on the 6th from Walmart. I was ticket number 30 out of 30, so you can say I was lucky. There were at least 20 more people waiting to see if any of the people with tickets didn't show up. After I paid for my Wii, there was one left over because number 12 didn't show up... the crowd soon got real ugly, needless to say I took mine and speed walked to my truck in fear for my Wii.
Now I just need to get my hands another flippin Wiimote and Nunchuck.

The thing is though, they want to put the new item in their weekly flyer. But they don't want to advertise the new item if they don't have any in stock to actually sell. I mean, a store could easily go the entire week the flyer runs without getting any Wiis instock. So, they hold a shipment or two in back so when the flyer comes out, they actually have some to sell.
