Title: Wii wireless question...
Post by: ShreddersDojo on November 23, 2006, 01:26:49 PM
I hooked up the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector  thingy and it recognises me when the Wii is right next to the machine.
However, it dosn't when it's downstairs near the family room.  Probably no more than 30 ft away.

CAn anyone recomend a good Wireless Broadcaster card that can extend that range and get a full 100% signal?  I'm thinking of going the Dlink route, as the Lynksys one I had did nothing..

I have a D-link and it is working fine at about 20 feet.

Because the Wifi USB adapter was not designed to work with long range.

You can get a 15ft USB extension cable and run the USB adapter from that. USB is limited to about 5 meters or around 16 feet, so this is probably your best bet. I'm sure you can find one on eBay or maybe buy.com for $10 or less.

Hmm, my Wi-Fi adapter works at a pretty long range.  The extension cable might be a good idea (I think it came with a short one),
