Title: Up to 8 players possible in a game.
Post by: BlkPaladin on November 22, 2006, 07:51:36 PM
I was browsing the virtual console and it seems that you can have eight players (theorically) play on one Wii. I don't know if that would be wise (unless for something like Mario Party). I say this because Bomberman 93 allows for 5 players to play at once (four wiimotes, and one gamecube controller.)

So I guess if the developers wanted to they could make Smash Brothers with eight. (4 classic, 4 gamecube - And just a thought..)

12 players *could* be possible.

4 GCN Controllers
4 Wii Controllers
4 Classic controllers coming from the Wii Controllers

Uncle Bob that probably is impossible since if the Wii remote is probably sending information from the VC controller attachment and I don't think the Wii remote can handle sending information form the wii remote and the VC controller similtaneously.

Maybe nintendo will come out with a firm/software update to allow 8 wiimotes to connect at the same time...

How would the lights that indicate the player work?

I suppose:
1+4=5P
2+4=6P
3+4=7P
1+2+4=8P
2+3+4=9P
1+2+3+4=10P

But is it really easy to round up 8 people that can all enjoy a particular game?

Maybe I need more friends that have the same tastes in games as I do...  >_<

It sends info from the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck at the same time, I don't see why it can't send info from the remote and the VC controller at the same time.

Hey, you're right. The nunchuk doesn't transmit signals except through the wiimote. So maybe it's possible to use a classic contr. and wiimote at the same time.

It would be cool to make a driving game where the driver uses the classic controller to drive the vehicle and a buddy, with the attached wiimote, controls the gun turret on top of the car to shoot other cars!

I swear to God this was an arcade game and I can't remember for the life of me what the hell it was called.  It has literally bugged me for years.

I do remember an booth style arcade game where one person took the steering wheel and the other person took the uzi... not a clue what it was called though.

Ohhh, I remember that game. There were two guys, and I think the game was named after them. Hmm...

no more than 7 wiimotes could be used at the same time, so 8 players simultaneous can't be done (that is a Bluetooth limitation, so it isn't up to Nintendo to fix)

but since more can be inactive and be called at any given time, I believe that through some clever programming it could be done (but would probably be very impractical...)

That's a damn good idea and it could literally open up many gameplay options. My only concern is will the cord attaching the two units be long  enough for two people to sit comfortably next to each other.
