Has anyone ever noticed the Saw series reminding us of the Batman cartoon?

I haven't seen the Saw movies, but are you thinking of that one Batman episode where the bad buy was some kind of interrogator for hire? He'd set up a sequence of death traps, so that just in case his victim figured out a way out of one, he'd find himself in an even worse situation.
