Title: Wii Consoles Already at Retailers
Post by: WindyMan on November 15, 2006, 08:45:20 PM
Nintendo says Best Buy stores are already starting to get their first shipments in.  But you still need to wait until Sunday to get one!

Nintendo issued a simple statement on their press site a few hours ago, proclaiming that yesterday (Wednesday) morning, UPS delivered the Wii consoles to Best Buy stores across the country.  They included a photograph with this news, in case we needed proof of said event:

The early arrival of the systems doesn't mean you'll be able to pick one up any sooner than the November 19th launch date.  However, you might want to consider slipping in to your local BB, breaking into the stock room and getting your Wii on a few days early thanks in part to the PlayStation 3 launch chaos.

Naturally, people are currently waiting in line right now for the PS3 launch, still about 30 hours away.  Will people come out in similar numbers for Wii?

There won't be a big line for Wii where I live. Here in Michigan the big weekend event is the Michigan Ohio State football game. That's good news for me! I'll be waiting for Wii. Already bought 2 Wii games at EB Games, so I'm ready.

Nah. Nintendo had some crazy idea about actually supplying people with the console instead of having massive shortages. Apparently people will be able to walk into a store on launch day and just buy a system without preordering or waiting in line. Must be some wacky Japanese business philosophy.

The ancient Zen philosophy of meeting supply with demand.

Who wouldn't be? By touching the wii, their lives now have purpose

I'm surprised no-one tried to assault the employee, take the box, and run like a bat out of hell. Talk about restraint. Or is it the constant cameras that discourage such random acts of larceny?

I work at a Target store, and we've had our 51-unit shipment ever since Wednesday.  I'm in MO too, so we always end up getting the last of the shipments.
