Title: Radio Free Nintendo - Episode 25
Post by: Svevan on November 12, 2006, 08:57:57 PM
Special guests Billy Berghammer and Chris Kohler join us for this Wii Launch Extravaganza!

Then again, that would require mating.

It's not every day that you can get Chris Kohler, Jonathan Metts, and Billy Berghammer in a room together. In fact, I didn't get them in a room together - we all live in different states, so the intertron has to stand in for the bar we went to at E3 (man do I have stories I'm not allowed to tell).

Episode 25: Wii Launch Special Edition

AAC Format

MP3 Format

You can also listen to the podcast on Odeo, or subscribe to us on iTunes.

powered by ODEO

Please note, my pretties, that the AAC version of this cast is filled with pretty pictures that change with the topic being discussed. I put a lot of hard work into selecting those darn things, so you'd better appreciate them.

So I hear Wii's coming out. Since I know nothing about this, I wanted to get the digs from the only three guys I know who actually have their own units already. Jonny, Billy, and Chris all got their Wii units on Friday and it was hard to convince them to put their WiiChuck's down long enough for this podcast.

So we talk about Wii, and we don't stop. We talk about the games, the packaging, the menus, the marketing, the players, the sales, like every possible thing you can think of about Wii. And apparently Zelda is still good - I look forward to the low score I will give it with no regard for its actual quality. There are no spoilers in this cast.

Anyways, e-mail us! Reader mail will be coming back, I swear. Next week tho.

Later!

No spoilers.

Before I get a bunch of e-mails, the iTunes feed was linking to the wrong file for a few hours while I was asleep - I've fixed that, but if you have last week's cast I suggest deleting it and refreshing the feed.

I don't know if this hasn't been noted before, but you do not need iTunes to watch those pics scrolling as they chat from the AAC file. You can use QuickTime Player, my version is 7.0.3 and it works perfectly.

Evan was quicker than me on that idea...I'll get you next time Inspector Gadget!

Great Podcast.

Yes! I agree with Billy, and lobby to bring back Louie the Cat. I think he should be honored in some way on the new site.

After listening to the Podcast, I get the feeling that WiiSports has a really mixed opinion attached to it. People seem to like it, but each individual sport people think is good seems to vary. Guess I'll have to reserve judgement until I get my own copy. I am pissed that Wii Sports is in a cardboard insert, as everyone else seems to be.

Yeah that cardboard insert is lame, it should have been in a DVD case. Personally the common opinion I'm getting with Wiisports is that it is lots of fun if you play with multiple people (though I haven't heard the best of things about boxing and golf) for an hour or so each time.

On Kotaku they are saying that Tennis and Bowling are the bad ones. I'm guessing that the ones you judge as good or bad really depends on your expectation of how the game will control. I forget which ones IGN put down, but I think they might've been on the same plane as these guys in the podcast.

I agree with the party game nature of it though. On day one my fiancee is picking up an extra controller simply for WiiSports.

IGN it was Golf and Boxing.  With Boxing taking the brunt of it.

Personally it looks fun and the training modes look interesting.  Though I'm glad I have meatier fare to play.

I nearly pulled a muscle playing Boxing.  The matches are long enough that you have to throw dozens and dozens of punches, and the controllers measure the force, so you have to spend quite a bit of energy to win.  My opponent was visibly sweating after three rounds.

Regarding this podcast, I love how it turned out.  It's too bad I hadn't played two of the three games by the time we recorded, but that's just how it worked out.

It is a shame that Evan cut out my story about "Magical spell is ai-ai-poo!"

Wut? I demand a special extended uncut director's edition of RFN 25! With commentary tracks and deleted scenes.

ShyGuy, the uncut edition of RFN basically consists of long awkward pauses whenever Burchfield tries to make a joke, and the word "Wangalicious."

No srsly.

Good lord, Berghammer sounds like he's killed a few people in his day. His voice is so deep and grizzled! Wouldn't have thought that based on his mug shot.

A lovely podcast. I like the special guests for the special occassions especially when it seemed like there was instant chemistry. More then a few people are saying Twilight Princess is the best Zelda there is. That's extremely exciting.
