Title: How to prank people with your Wii...
Post by: NWR_pap64 on November 12, 2006, 05:22:20 PM
GoNintendo just posted this video where some magazine/website editors prank their fellow editors using their Wii and some Metroid Prime footage. Trust me, the end results are PRICELESS.

OMG THEY ARE PLAYING METROID WII!

What surprises me the most is how gullible and oblivious these people are. They are supposed to be editors. Had they known their crap they would've realized that this was a hoax... XD

Damn. And they don't offer any other media options either.

Oh well, here is a rundown of the video.

What happens is that the 1up editors have their Wii set up and are playing Metroid Prime 3. This catches the attention of the onlookers as they convince them that they are playing the final retail version. The trick is that they are actually playing video footage of MP 3 while they are making motions as if they were playing, so it looks like they got an updated demo build of MP 3.

What is priceless about the video is how gullible the other editors well. Had they used critical thinking, they would've noticed that:
1. MP 3 is a 2007 title, therefore Nintendo wouldn't release demos to review now
2. The guys were playing without the nunchuck. The nunchuck is vital in this game
3. The movements do not match the movement on screen

And this is a videogames website we are talking about, so they should've been able to catch that right away (unless they were Sony or MS editors and were clueless about Nintendo and Wii).

1. The first guy caught on really quick, he didn't even need to try the game.

2. The second guy was skeptical but still didn't really catch on that he wasn't controlling the action on the screen. "Its really sensitive, I didn't even touch the trigger and she started firing"

3. The third guy was completely clueless as he played GT Pro. He didn't even realize that the car was moving in the complete opposite direction that he was turning the Wiimote in.

Lots of bad comments were made about GT Pro: (paraphrasing below)
"why are you playing a Playstation 1 game"
"whats with the bad Auto Modelista wannabe"
"I coulda played that game 5 years ago"

I got a good laugh out of the GT Pro part when the player was flailing his arms around before he realized his efforts at control were futile.
