Title: WalMart.com Taking Wii Pre-Orders November 1st
Post by: Pryopizm on October 31, 2006, 06:49:11 PM
Missed out on the GameStop pre-order madness?  Fret not!

According to Cheap Ass Gamer, WalMart.com will begin taking Wii preorders Wednesday November 1st.  Unfortunately, we don't know at what time they start nor how many units will be available, but if you must be absolutely sure to have one at launch, we recommend you get friendly with your preferred browser's refresh button early.

Thanks to UncleBob from our forums for the tip!

I posted this on the Wii board. But this is getting me a littlee anxious, I don't know when they started but Wal-Mart.com is already sold out of all their pre-orders for Wii, and at $540.00 a pop. (It includes four other games, and a points card I also think it includes an extra controller combo.)

I hope that included shipping or you got gypped.

(Walmart Prices)
Wii.................$249.24
Wiimote...........$39.82
Nunchuku........$19.82
WiiPoint Card..$24.82
Game...............$49.82
Game...............$49.82
Game...............$49.82
Game...............$49.82
Total: $533.59
Deal: $540
Difference: -$6.44 of savings

If they would have also included the classic controller as well then you save $13.38.  Add Tax for you region as you see fit, (Walmart has a presence in all States).  Then throw in the shipping which I'm sure makes up for the little bit of savings you get if they did give you the classic controller.  Though it would be mighty convenient to have it show up at your door.

The actual "deal" is $533.56, but adding up the prices in your post I get $532.98... still a loss of 58 cents.  And then shipping is a minimum of $25 and tax is even more for most people.  Ridiculous in any case.

Sold out

It's 2:43 PM EST when I first looked and they were already sold out.

Not sure at what time they ACTUALLY sold out.

Smash, if you look back you'll notice that BlkPaladin posted at 4:38 AM CST and they were sold out then.  So they didn't last too long.

Here's the thing, I clicked the link about 2 hours ago and it said they were available.  I added to my cart and everything.  Then I'm like, no way, I want mine at midnight, not wait for shipping...  So i left.

I then read about Wal-Mart return stuff, saying I could return the whole thing if I wanted to when it came in.  I also then thought I could sell it at cost to some deserving PGC person who missed out, so I went beck to order and it's back to saying sold out.

Selling at cost? I'm getting 3 Wii's on launch and I'm selling them for whatever they sell for on ebay (well except one which I'm keeping). I figure if they take advice like yours and think they can walk in on launch day and get one, then they deserve to pay more for being so naive .

VG, would it bother you if I said I hate people who do that with a fiery passion?

Because I do.

My policy.... If it's a system I plan to keep (Wii), I'll sell any extras I get my hands on at cost (plus tax, etc) to (local) friends if they didn't get one and can't find one.  I did that for the Gamecube.  Otherwise it's either the open market or a return.

Late to the party, but oh well. I'm not going to buy a bundle with three games I don't want anyway.

Would it bother you if I said I hate when people whine and complain about not getting a system at launch when they think they can walk right in and pick one up? If I'm going to spend 15 hrs in 14 degree of weather, then someone who didn't does not deserve the system at cost if they want one. I don't differentiate between whether it is a system I like or one I don't, because frankly that is a double standard. If you aren't willing to work for something or it isn't a priority and is no longer available (whether it be tickets or a game console), then tough luck you should pay for the other person's time actually took the time. So screw you Pale I can judge just as bluntly as you.
