Zombie Crisis: Day One

MEMORANDEM
I had awaken today, and noticed a lesion on my neck. I had no idea what it was and went about my business. I work at a pharmacutical company called Pharmocogen. I am a scientist and i'v been developing a drug that enhances longevity. We were experimenting on chimpanzees and one of them got extremely agressive and bit me. My hand was pretty bad. I had to get some shots. Amazingly the wound healed up the next day. It was a shock. In the middle of the day I started to feel really sick. So I got out of work. I went to the doctor and he said that I could potentially have some form of rabies. 2 days later the lab results came in and it said I had a viral infection. The virus according to the viral lab technician was very similar to rabiers, but appeared to be a new strain. I got the shots required to get rid of rabies, but they were inefective. The third day later I got a phonecall from the lab urging me to get over there. 1 of the chimpanzees had mutated and one of them died. I took their blood and examined them. I then took a sample of my own b lood. The one that had mutated, mutated into a super chimp. He could actually talk. He wanted to be called Charles. The one that died was the one that bit me. The next day i felt likei was dying. I didn't go to work.

Memorandum
My colleage had been acting strange lately. He has missed work for a few days and that in our industry is pretty unacceptable. It all happened when he got bitten by that chimp that had died. I'm betting he has that same virus that killed the chimp. He should be watched after. I don't know what type of effect our drug has on Viruses. It is interesting though. The other chimp has become super intelligent. If administered correctly we could use these chimps as slaves. The other chimp died. The problem is this ruined our study. You see we have 3 chimps. 1 non drugged one, and two drugged one. If the other chimp hadn't died we would have sufficient evidence to use the drug on humans. Now we have to get a new trio of chimps to accurately test this.

I am a spy. Not the James bond Ninja-esque spy seen in movies. I am a corperate spy. I am well educated and they hire me to infliltrate rival companies and figure out their top secret projects. Currently I work for both Organigen and Pharmocogen at the same time. I'v been working in this lab with these two scientists. Let, me tell you this is the strangest job yet. First we have a talking chimp, then one of the chimps dies. Comes back to life and goes crazy. Then Cahill dies and I don't know what the hell is going on.

2 people are zombies, 2 people are cops, 3 people are scientist however 1 of them is mad, 1 is a necromancer, 1 is a killer

some clarification on the daily bet
do not pm me telling me how much you are betting, do it in the thread, and then tell me whether your heads or tails. I believe everyone played mafia. in mafia you vote, in Zombie Crisis you bet.

Egad, zombies! In our fair town of, umm (what's our town again?) EGAD!

The Living Dead! They were mad to try and play God!! What have those fools done?!

Even the most rational of men turn to vices in times of duress, seeking in vain to numb the fear or pain. Some choose drugs. Others alcohol. Decoyman's vice of choice... was gambling.

Banks aren't safe, thought decoy as he began rifling through his dresser. There could be zombies. He let out a small chuckle as he extracted a small pink ceramic rabbit with lavender and blue flowers painted on its sides from the back corner of his sock drawer. Decoy shook the tiny figure and heard hope rattle inside. Help me, Bunny One. You're my only hope, he muttered under his breath as he smashed the rabbit bank into the side of the dresser. Pieces of Bunny One scattered everywhere, momentarily illuminated by the full moon hanging outside the 2nd floor bedroom window, but its green and silver guts were the only things on decoy's mind. Greedily, he scooped up his spoils and raced out of his house to the only place he could feel safe: the local casino.

$50... decoy cursed as he ran. It'll have to do. I need me a gun somethin' fierce.He finally arrived at the casino, ran in, and slammed his money down in front of the surprised-looking man at the desk.

important rule change
ok killer recruitment, I sort of wanted killers to be loners, but that doesnt mean they cant form aliances. To join a killer "gang" you must earn a weapon. If a survivor earns a permanent weapon and knows who the killer is and the killer agrees they can join his gang.  Being a gang is an informal arrangement. Cops cannot become killers though.

When you think of Zombies you think of slow moving creatures that eat brains.  I saw them from a distance before I ran for shelter.  They were in a group chatting and plotting.  

It looked like they were coming up with a plan.  It scared the crap outta me.  These Zombies are just as cunning as you and me.

decoyman hears a voice from nearby on the street, and turns a corner to find Spak-Spang hiding in an alley What did you say, man?! You actually SAW the demon-spawn?! Well?! Did you recognize any of them? If we know who they are, we can... well... err... bet money until we can afford a weapon, and then kill them, I guess...

decoyman turns introspective for a moment, as the startled Spak begins formulating his response...
It's strange... does no one in this town have the leadership to organize a... a "mob" if you will... of the normal people, arm them with torches and other available gardening and household tools, and take aim at a democratically-decided-upon potential-zombie? I feel... in a past life, perhaps... that this is the way it might have worked...

I'm very confused by this here game.  Also, Firefox 2.0 is spell checking my post right now.  This is a crazy new feature.

Pale:  Basically each day allows you to gamble so that there is something to do in the front of the game...instead of everything being behind the scenes.  Though I think that the game will pick up to where speculation on who is who will happen as the game progresses.  And people start commenting about avoiding attacks from Zombies and such and such...just a thought.

Vudu since I have my Money on tails too...I hope you win.  But I would think it would have been nice to save 10 dollars so you can continue betting on future days if you lose it.

The money is just an easy means of upgrading your character when you have enough money.

No guts, no glory.  Having $199 or less doesn't do you any good.  If I win two times in a row, I'll have enough for a weapon.  If I lose, I'll have no money and I won't be a target for any flesh-eating zombies.  It's a win-win situation.

This reminds me, I have to make some room this weekend to watch Romero's "Dead" quadrilogy. Production on the next chapter, Diary Of The Dead begins in December. Sounds like it will be interesting.

I still need to watch Night and Day. Video stores only seem to have Dawn these days due to the resurgence of interest after the remake.

I'm still trying to figure out the poorly written rules.  Correct me if any of this is wrong.

(1) Survivors are basically townies, except they don't vote anyone out.  They don't do anything.  They're worthless.

(2) Killers are basically Serial Killers.  They choose someone to kill every night.  If they're attacked by a single zombie, they kill that zombie.  (Do they still get their normal kill that day?)  If they're attacked by multiple zombies on the same night, they die.  (Do they still kill one of the zombies?)

(3) Cops are really Doctors.  They're called Cops because I don't know why.  They choose to protect someone every night.  If that person is attacked by a zombie they live.  (What happens if they're attacked by multiple zombies?)  If they're attacked by a single zombie, they kill that zombie.  If they're attacked by multiple zombies on the same night, they die.  Somehow they can kill the Necromancer, which doesn't make any sense.

(4) Scientists a cross between the Mafia and the typical Cop.  They can investigate people to determine if they've zombies.  I have no idea why they want to do this.  If they find a zombie I guess they can turn him into a survivor. (Is this an absolute thing or determined by a coin toss?)

(5) The Mad Scientist can both cure people and turn them into zombies.  He wins by turning everyone into a zombie, so why he would want to cure them is beyond me.  He can do some sort of convoluted protégé thing if he lives long enough.  He knows the Necromancer.

(6) The Necromancer can take people who have died and turn them into zombies.  I have no idea when or how people die.  The rules don't say anything about dying.  He can also do some sort of convoluted protégé thing if he lives long enough.  He knows the Mad Scientist.  He cannot be zombified.  He also has a list of all the zombies.

(7) Zombies attack people and they apparently have a 33% chance of infecting that person.  (The rules don't say what happens in the event of a tie, so I assume no infection.)  If a person is infected they become a zombie.  Somehow they can become a Super Zombie and potentially infect two people per day.  The rules don't specify how this happens.

(8) The Saint can either unzombify one person or raise one person from the dead (to survivor or zombie status?) every other day.  This doesn't make sense because people can't die in this game.  

(9) There's some money involved but it doesn't matter because it's stupid.  If you get $200 you can get a weapon.  There's a 50% chance you'll get to keep that weapon beyond one use.  If so, there's a 50/50 chance you'll become a Cop/Killer.  Apparently zombie money can turn a zombie into a super zombie.  Whatever.  You can trade money or something.

(10) I still have no idea how a survivor can die.

4. They investigate for the same reason the cop investigates in mafia. Find the bad people and tell a killer.

5. Sound right

9. Money is complicated.

But the Killers are after the Zombies, not anyone else.  So if they do their job well, there won't be any deaths (just re-dead zombies).

And how can the Cops kill the Necromancer?  You didn't answer that.  It states in the rules "Cops are restricted to only protecting people, because it is too risky to just kill randomly and hope they are Zombies."

Why would the Scientists tell the Killers if they found a Zombie when they can unzombify him themselves?  

Why would the Mad Scientist want to unzombify a Zombie?

It seems you don't understand this game either.

Survivors do nothing, when they get a gun though they can be cops, killers, or temporary killers

Killers can also kill a mad scientist.

Scientists would tell a killer about the mad scientist.

The mad scientist would unzombify if he needed an apprentice.

The game is a work in progress, I'm sure Zombie Crisis beta 2 will be better.

I will apologize for my part of the rules.  It is very hard writing rules that have not been fully play tested...this game is definately a play test.

Mafia 1 couldn't have been perfect in its run and rules.

the mad scientist has some powers that he may not use, for instance if he couldnt cure somebody than that would give him away to the good scientists

and some of the rules are spaks fault!!!

the cop can kill the necromancer if he knows who he is. If he tries to kill a non-necromancer nothing happens

money is really easy...you bet it..and buy stuff

I am thinking Perm should just stick to using either wanclering or ThePerm, not both. Otherwise it's just confusing.
