Isn't Guam in some sense part of the US? Isn't Guam near Australia?
*goes to look in Wikipedia*
Couldn't Australians import from there if it is?

Yeah, but I don't think there is much in Guam. Maybe they could get them from the PX at the airbase.

Looks just like the European pricing and Ubi, Atari and Activision use the next-gen pricing for the Wii, too (though Australia got a smaller price hike than Europe, 2€ less).

It's funny how it's always the people in the US bitching about the prices. $250 for a Wii oh my god

Well that %^&*ing sucks. $110 for a "NOT next gen gamecube game" means nintendo have already lost in Australia. XBOX 360 older release games are going for 60 - 70 AUD, almost half the price of Wii games, and they ARE next gen. Even new XBOX360 games are going for less than $100 AUD, Aussies will not pay more than $100 for a game.
I'll still get it (although Im strongly tempted not to since it will definately flop here now) but only a with one game until the game prices drop, it will make a good portable gamecube for all my old gamecube games. This means PS3 will be the system of choice for me when it comes out, (or XBOX 360 when the new design 360 comes out that does not overheat). If Im paying next gen prices I want next gen games with next gen graphics.

Are you kidding me, obviously Wii prices will go down just like 360s.

Some Australian online retailers are suggesting a $110 price point. However because there has been no official pricing from Nintendo Australia released I think its just to cover there arses. Microsoft was soon to drop the price of X360 games at the $110 price point in Australia. Nintendo has not traditionally done very well in Australia and to release games at that price point will continue that trend if not make it worse. If Nintendo really want to make ground in this territory I believe the gamecube pricing struture is the way to go (ie $89.99RRP). Although in the past there have been 3rd party titles on Nintendo systems that entered the market at the $110 price point.
I suppose we shall just have to wait and see when stores get more pricing information.
Although I believe $100 for a wii-mote and nunchuk unit is a little excessive

The most amusing part is EA sticking to the $100 price (which is still massive rape but hey). These are the guys that recently decided to start charging $80 for GBA and DS games. Eighty.

Oh most definitely, once it shows signs of a sinking ship right after Mario Flop Galaxies is released. Everyone will be like "GIVE US A REAL MARIO GAME, MUSHROOM KINGDOM STUFF!" and the so-called flowery launch period up to April 2007 will blow away like the Sands of Time where the only known release between spring and SSBB would be the USA port of Ridge Racer 6 for Wii. FlopCube all over again. And remaking RE4 with Wii controls and 1.5x quality gaffix won't cut it.

The last two gens third party games on Nintendo systems have struggled and now there's the added disincentive of an extra A$10. Seems stupid to me and the excuse that Microsoft devs used - eg HD means increased production costs doesnt fly with 3rd party Wii games.
As soon as the Wii's Freeloader or equivalent hits I'm going to just import from the US like I have been for the latter half of this gen.

Lemme see what I remember...these are games I bought on release day:
Super Mario Land 2: $62 Castlevania: Circle of the Moon: $110 Conker's Bad Fur Day: $110
Good times. Although, I remember treasuring Mario Land 2 because I saved up all my pocket money to get it. But then, I also paid the same price for Bart vs. the Juggernauts. (This was before we had things like The InterTron.) DIE ACCLAIM
Oh wait.

That was still better than Bart Escapes Camp Deadly or whatever it was.

Oh, so price dropped 360 games are cheaper than full-priced Wii games? Well guess what, price dropped 360 games are also cheaper than new PS2 games and I don't see people complaining that that's too expensive because you can get "next gen" for cheaper.
