Title: Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 Announced
Post by: MegaByte on October 17, 2006, 06:09:09 AM
Mario and Pac-Man meet Tamagotchi.
Flyers of a second Triforce-powered Mario Kart arcade game have recently surfaced. Waluigi and and a character from the Tamagotchi series are the latest drivers to enter the grand prix. More wacky weapons and avatar customizations are also included. In addition, the collection of an "M" logo item will transform drivers' karts into custom vehicles similar to those found in Mario Kart DS. Like the previous game, the full setup will feature 4-player seating. There is no word yet on a release date.

The first one wasn't terribly good: the control (with heavy karts, at least) was WAY too loose.
To make matters worse, scoring first didn't earn you a free race. >:\

I wish arcades wern't basically dead. There is only 1 arcade in my area, and it never gets anything good. It didn't get F-Zero AX, and it didn't get Mario Kart Arcade GP. I doubt it will get this either.

They should work on updating the controls and release it on the Wii.
I happened to like the first arcade game, but I agree with S_B that the controls were sketchy and it sucked balls that you didn't get a free race.

They should work on bringing the first one to other places before they go nuts about making a second one.
I mean, I want to play it, still!

Honestly, I don't think you're missing much.

I would not be surprised if Mario Kart Arcade 1 and 2 are eventually combined into a single Wii game. The Wii will be able to handle the graphical upgrades from the arcade units (compared to Gamecube) and the game and levels are practically finished...so that the only issue is to focus on control.
Adding Wifi play into the mix and Wii24connect to the game, I bet this could be released around Christmas of next year easily.

Now if it came with a camera attachment for the wiimote, that would be cool.

If I had to guess, this is more of a minor update to entice further sales and not repeat sales. Basically to try and get more arcades to carry it.

I dunno.. I would rather that Mario Kart were made completely around the Wii controls and hardware, and developed internally.. There's a lot of potential right there.

Same, and I would also not like to see Pacman and Tamagotchi characters show up for the console version.

I agree about their being a new mariokart being made for the wii from the ground up down the line but intill then MKA:GP1/2 would be a perfect wiimake game...

well why cant there be 2 mario karts for wii? we had 2 metroids and 2 zelda's for gamecube seems a bit silly to bash one kind, then the other... when we could have BOTH

For the same reason we didn't see two Smash Brothers for N64 or GC...So ideas won't be burned out within a single generation...
Or in the case of Mario Kart GP, I'm sure Ninty won't port it because they don't want people soured before playing the REAL Mario Kart...

Then they shouldn't have released Double Dash... (har har...)

Well, the other potential is that the Mario Kart Arcade games are unlocked when you beat Mario Kart Wii...or their tracks are included in the game from the beginning.
I don't mind Pacman and Ghost being in Mario Kart. Its a racing game...who you race isn't as important as how the game races and feels.
I have all been for Mario Kart going the direction of a Nintendo Kart game, but I know I am in the complete minority in that, and I actually understand why. Just to me it isn't a big deal.

The game balancing would be tough if the GP tracks are used, since it would be a whole new game with a new control scheme..

It's not like they haven't done it before. Mario Kart DS is full of updated tracks from previous games. F-Zero X even included a version of Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road.

I agree with that, but look at Mario Kart: Super Circuit. That included all of the SNES tracks, but because of the handling of the karts on the GBA version, so many of the tracks (I'm thinking the Mario Circuit ones in particular) were made that much more difficult. Plus some of the updates weren't quite so great (they got rid of some of the pipes in the middle of the tracks).

In addition to what Wacker said, if they use the motion sensing in any way, which I'm hoping they do, it will be much mroe difficult.
