UBISOFT SNEAKS OUT TOM CLANCY'S SPLINTER CELL DOUBLE AGENT™ TO  Wii™

Top-Selling Espionage Video Game Will Be Available for the Highly Anticipated Launch of the New Console
SAN FRANCISCO -- September 11, 2006 -- Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent™ will be available for the launch of Nintendo's highly anticipated Wii™.  Developed by Ubisoft's award-winning Montreal studio, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent further establishes Ubisoft as a leading third-party provider of Wii launch titles.

"We are very excited to bring Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent to the Wii this holiday season," said Tony Key, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. "The Splinter Cell franchise has always translated very well across multiple platforms and we are confident that the Wii version will continue the tradition of maximizing the capabilities of each respective video game console platform."

About Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent

Veteran agent Sam Fisher is back. But he's never faced an enemy like this before. To stop a devastating terrorist attack, he must infiltrate a vicious terrorist group and destroy it from within. For the first time ever, experience the relentless tension and gut-wrenching dilemmas of life as a double agent. As you infiltrate a terrorist organization in its American headquarters, you must carefully weigh the consequences of your actions. Kill too many criminals and you'll blow your cover. Hesitate too long and millions will die. Do whatever it takes to complete your mission, but get out alive.

Key Features Include:

- Dual objectives to fulfill: NSA government agents and terrorists will each want you to accomplish opposing tasks at the same time.
 - Discover the tension of being a double agent: Use actual tactics employed by today's real-life double agents to sabotage the terrorists' plans.
 - Explore a branching storyline with multiple endings: Your choices have an impact on how the story and gameplay unfolds.
 - A world of international espionage: Missions from all over the world, from Asia to Africa to the heart of the U.S. Experience extreme situations: underwater or in a sandstorm, hiding behind the dust or smoke -- and even skydiving.
 - New authentic gadgets: Master the latest weapons and gadgets used by NSA government agents in addition to black-market terrorist weapons.

This is good for the Wii, although I have never been a fan of the Splinter Cell games.

Has anyone noticed how good these screens look? I'm almost convinced that they're not Wii screens at all.

They're not PS3 or 360 screens cuz they're not HD specs rez.

They're not PC screens cuz these and the Red Steel screens are at PAL ratio (1.25, not 1.33).

They're not GC or PS2 cuz by law Ubi is supposed to make them awful.

They're not Xbox screens cuz Ubi would capture them similarly to any PC version (1.33).  I don't even know if Ubi is bothering with an Xbox version.

They're not PSP/DS/GBA screens cuz DUR.

Ubi's premiere Wii development have been conducted in Europe, or at least for the Euro market (Red Steel taking the lead), explaining the PAL nature of their screens.

Therefore it's very highly stupidly probably these are blown-up Wii screens.

This brings the Wii Launch lineup to somewhere around 25 games.  That's impressive.

Bloom blurs the picture and makes it more difficult to see anything, including the flaws in the graphics.

It gets really confusing when you start seeing flowers bloom in a game. You could really drive someone nuts by saying "Hey look at those bloom effects they are amazing".

I like bloom...  At least if it's not overdone.
