Title: Sega Announces Leipzig Line-up
Post by: Pale on August 17, 2006, 05:51:43 AM
Sonic Wild Fire gets a new name as well.

Sega announced their line-up for the Leipzig convention today.  There will be four titles shown from Nintendo platforms.

Similar to what Nintendo will be doing, both Wii titles will be shown behind closed doors to chosen press and VIPs only.

Sega's DS lineup smells of failurine.  They just can't make a smart move, can they?

Then again, my impression is that even Sonic didn't do super-well on the system, so maybe this is the first half-smart move Sega has made.  Even so, DS is clearly where it's at.  Especially this year with the new consoles not having enough users, and the old ones running out of steam.

Let me be the first to say it: that name change is horrible, what was wrong with Wild Fire?

The fact that nothing was wrong with it is what was wrong!  Sega feels the need to botch everything up just for the hell of it...

KDR you are definately gonna have to give us some frequent updates from the show.  You just attending the show floor or the keynotes too?

Frequent updates? I'm going to be there once and I don't have portable internet access (Leipzig is still a few hours away via train). The only updates I can give you is what I see on that one day. I don't think there are going to be many things we haven't seen at the E3 or in any internet news source already, announcing something at the GC seems more like an exception than the rule since it's still a minor event compared to the old E3. Maybe it'll gain importance next year when E3 won't be important either.

Are keynotes even open to the public?

There Onion rings.  You now know the Secret.  That Wild Fire well... It's really a result of those Secret Rings...

What is most sickening about this is that Sega once again is taking stupid pills. Their Xbox 360 lineup makes the Wii lineup look like a joke. They are releasing Sonic, Virtua Tennis 3, Sega Rally,  and Phantasy Star for 360! Hasn't Sega learned anything from their pitiful sales this last generation? Bah. And the new name for the Wii Sonic sucks as well.

True lol. But even at that I don't see why Sega wouldn't make a game like Virtual Tennis for Wii since it would be the PERFECT system for that series. I never thought they could be that naive and foolish, but I guess I wasx wrong.

AiAi is a filthy, filthy beast if he does that!

I say if Pryopizm didn't watch the Madden PPV, KDR doesn't have to report on Leipzig!

Good to know their only DS release this year is a game nobody will buy.

I'm sure they wanted to make a good DS game.....but Dimps wasn't available.

Personally, I'm more excited about Wild Fi..err, Secret Rings and Super Monkey Ball than any of those games (Virtua Tennis would've been nice, tho)

Well I am not holding much hope for Sonic and the magical shiney rings, Sega's track record hasn't been that great lately with 3D sonics. Super Monkey Ball has potential and I will probaly pick it up if it is any good, but I would much rather have a Virtua Tennis game that utilizes the Wii mote.

From what I played at E3, this monkey ball may be the most difficult one yet.

Could it be that it may just have to do with getting used to the sensitivity of the Wiimote?
Title: RE: Sega Announces Leipzig Line-up

Well....

If your saying that since the Wiimote is so sensitive that it'll allow the developers to make harder levels, then yes (or at least I hope so).

If your saying that since the Wiimote is so damn sensitive it makes it incredibly hard to control, then no (or at least I hope so).

I think the Wiimote makes it more difficult and sensitive.  I think people could get better with practice though.  Don't get me wrong, it feels like the way Monkey ball was meant to be played.  The levels I played were also much more difficult.

I sat on one level and burned through all 5 of my lives while people in line laughed at me.  It was disgusting and involved hopping.

The main problem with the game is the camera again.  Ya know how in the original games you had to quickly release the stick as the camera swung around because it changed the relative direction?  Well the same thing applies here, only instead of releasing the stick you have to level the controller.

Well, remember how difficult using the analog stick for the first time was. The first time I picked up an N64 controller, I bounced all over Rainbow Road.

...though having to work just to keep the playing field level DOES sound like it could be murderously frustrating...

I saw a video of someone playing Monkey Ball Wii and they got to a boss character (a big monkey with a bubble on his butt) and they died five times in a row. It was like watching myself play Monkey Ball.
