Seriously, if you hate vacuuming, you should consider buying one of these things. We got one for my parents' place recently and it worked so well that I went out to buy my own after borrowing it and trying it at my house.
You'll be stunned at the amount of sh*t the thing picks up when you go to empty it after it's done vacuuming. It even has a charging dock which it automatically returns to at the end of its vacuuming cycle to recharge its battery. It has sensors to ensure that it won't fall down stairs and will generally work its way around the edge of a room with a little brush which knocks crap out of the corners so it can be vacuumed up.
I love the damn thing. I leave for work in the morning, hit the button to tell it to clean and I'll find it sitting in its dock when I get home with a full load of hair, sand and crap which I didn't even know was on the floor. It even cleans the shag carpet in my room.
The only catch is that you need to pick up and remove things which you wouldn't be able to get with a regular vacuum, which makes it not really a catch at all considering that you'd have to do that anyway if you wanted to vacuum the floor.
There's a special deal at Bed Bath and Beyond right now with a 20% coupon which they've been mailing to people. If you call them, they'll send you a coupon which takes the price of the robot from $279 to $223. It seems pricey, but a decent vacuum goes anywhere from $150-400 and rather than buy one which I need to push around, I'd rather buy one that'll do the work without me.
The best part is that my roommate's GF wants to bitch at me for not cleaning but she can't do that since I paid for a device to do it for me.

I've wanted a Roomba for a while but my Wife won't let me get one. So you'll have to have a Roomba Vs. Wii write up when it comes out because the cost about the same.

I don't know how I'd argue that, honestly.
The Roomba makes you do less work cleaning so you have more time to do other things, including REAL work or unwinding from work.
The Wii is an entertainment device which further aids in the unwinding process, and while the Roomba can be fun to watch, it's not nearly as fun as the Wii will be (at least I HOPE not).

1) Cleanning challenge 2) Game Challenge (Complete with a WiiPointer taped to the Roomba so it can play) 3) Beauty

I was staying at a house before that had one, but wasn't generally impressed with it. It always got stuck somewhere, and I honestly didn't even know it was supposed to return to the charger of its own accord as it never even got close to achieving that. I ended up just using a broom and a dustpan while I could hear it running into various things in the room next door. I guess it saved a bit of time, but nothing I would tout about. Maybe the layout of the house just wasn't meant for it.

Which revision was it?
This is the 4-5th revision of the Roomba and I've heard that the earlier ones were pretty crap. It can get stuck under furniture if it's just the wrong height, but mine goes under my futon without any issue and that's one of the least likely places to be cleaned, ever.

Welp I joined the fold.
I've just got me a brand spanking new Roomba direct from iRobot. Its the new Roomba 560 that they just released. It was the same as most places had the Scheduler for and its the a latest and greatest. Now to challenge the Wii with it...

One of my friends had either an early roomba, or a bad ripoff. Didn't work anywhere near as well as the newer ones do, it seems.
But what I really want to do is hack one, tape a knife to it and send it on a squirrel-hunting mission. Eat from my bird feeders, will you!

I have a Roomba. I got it for my mom but she refuses to use it.
Now I have trouble using it. I wonder if the battery or charger is screwed. Oftentimes the light is red, but when I pop the really hot battery out and back in, sometimes it works, but often it doesn't. I wonder if it's overheating?
I haven't changed the filter in like forever. I wonder if I should?

Ironically, one of our female friends seemed annoyed at the idea of the Roomba at S_B's house. She kept complaining about it not doing a proper job (such as picking up small stuff on tight corners) and she preferred to do the job herself, even though she didn't live there and was just part of the group.
Wow, talk about old! Might as well do an update. I used the Roomba last summer and its still kicking and picking up stuff like a pro.
Fun fact: At one point I wanted to name it "Chibi-Robo" but the crew went with "Ivan".
