So is the Snow Brother above him... but in terms of GB downloads to DS, I doubt it considering it has no permanent way to store them built in.

I like how just below the center you see Wonder Boy and Master Higgins both reaching for the axe (Wonder Boy and the first Adventure Island game were essentially the same), but I'm pretty sure official artwork wouldn't make an in-joke that might make one hesitant to download both.
Also, there are obscure characters...nearby those two above, I see the guy from Rockin' Kats. He's kind of obscure, with only one game, as far as I know. Then there's also Mighty Bomb Jack, Kid Dracula, Mappy, Sonson, Solar Fox (I think that's his name), the Parasol Stars heroes, Firebrand, TwinBee, a ship presumably from one of the Darius games, Ebisumaru, Bubbles, the kiwi from Kiwi Kraze/New Zealand Story...and other characters more well-known and less well-known.
Unless all their games are guaranteed to come out for the VC at some point, and for the other reasons mentioned above, it's most likely not official, but as a fan-made piece of art, it's an interesting who's who of classic games...now I feel like finding some Where's Waldo books.
(Someone should make Where's Waldo-style books, but with video game characters in video game settings. It's fun to find Waldo in a crowded airport, but I'd rather look for a Podoboo hidden among the Rinkas in Tourian.)

and for a fan made artwork, i think its strange they include five characters from mega man (protoman, cutman, yellow devil, dr. wily, roll)
but no megaman. or am i just not seeing him...

It also looks like that character on the bottom next to the bicycle has the leaf shield from MM2. And I'm pretty sure that angler ship thing is from Darius. Also, Launch Octopus was in X1.

edit: actually yeah, i meant x1 but originaly thought x2 because of the fish-shaped sub you have to destroy in bubble crabs stage, just forgot to fix that.
also about the guy with the leaf sheild... i remember playing a game along time ago, no clue what system it was on, but there was a lil blue elf guy that had two powers in the beginning of the game: one was to shrink, and the other was a leif sheild. i remember when he shrunk he could stand on leaves that would float on the water and use them as platforms to get across giant gaps. thats all i remember about the game, that and playing it in a huge dept. store like caldors or bradley's or something. does anyone know what game im thinking about, or know who that character is??
also... above dr. wily and dr. eggman, next to Wart... whose the lil chubby kid that looks like luigi?
and right under ganon, the lil chef guy reminds me of burger time which i would love to play again, and the guy next to him holding the hamburger... is that supposed to be jason (cuz i know he had some friday the 13th games out) or the guy from earthbound that wore the shy-guy like mask? if its from earthbound, that guy had blond hair and wasnt bald. he doesnt exactly look like a serial killer either...

It's a Konami series with games on the NES and the GB (which I had). Only the GB game came to the US.

The story of Kid Dracula is relatively simple. The self-proclaimed Demon King, Kid Dracula, has awoken from a long sleep, only to discover that the evil dinosaur-like creature Garamoth has challenged him (note that a character named Galamoth makes an appearance in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night). Swiping his father's cape, it is then up to Kid Dracula himself to set out on the adventure to destroy the monster.
The game is basically a platformer. You move till you reach a boss, fight him, get a new power, and next level. The cool thing was Kid Dracula could turn into a bat (from the start I think) and fly for a limited time. For a 2D platformer this added some dimension.
I have pretty good memories of this game, but I don't know where my copy is.

Mega Man isn't in the picture but Doctor Willy and Protoman.
Mario isn't in there, but Luigi and Princess Peach are.
I didn't see Link, but I think I saw Ganon or at least a Pig monster from the series.
This artwork is fake, but it is incredibly well done and beautiful. I wish Nintendo had created this...and would use it in posters, because I think it makes a great impression.
