Title: I spent too much money today...
Post by: UncleBob on July 28, 2006, 03:17:35 PM
Today, I spent..
$78 to renew my tags for my car. $24.70 in Gas. $327.13 for my car payment (with some nasty late charges because of a check that didn't arrive in the mail on time). $3.16 for a new GCN Extention Cable ($.99) and a new DS Case ($1.99) at Pamida. $2.85 for a used copy of the original Game Boy game Kwiks at EBGames. $31.75 for a new GCN Mobile Monitor from Toys R Us. $13.40 at White Castle for 40 Hidden Valley Chicken Rings and a 44 oz Sweet tea. $13.21 for new copies of Drill Dozer ($7.48) and ($4.98) Viewtiful Joe at Target. $6.67 for the Master's Edition of the card game Phase 10 at Target (as a gift for my wife). $13.77 for a used SNES Game Genie packaged with box, code book and one update book at Joe's Records. Which brings me to a grand total of... $514.64
In a couple of months, when I'm complaining that I don't have the money for a Wii, you'll know why.

I don't see the white castle cases. Commercials lead me to believe that you people keep them to store your games in.

Oh... well, that picture isn't everything I bought today.
In the floor is my GameCube with the Game Boy Player, Intec Mobile Monitor and a Hori Digital Controller attached to it.
To the right and up is my 27" TV with my SNES mini connected to it. In the SNES Mini is the Game Genie and my Super Game Boy 2.
In each of these units is a copy of the original Tetris and the two units are linked together with a Nintendo Universal Game Link Cable - the game is paused at the beginning of a two player match.
Now, tell me you've seen that before.

That is impressive. Wanna know what's equally impressive? I have a savings account.

You enjoy your money when you old/dead, I'll enjoy my money now...
(seriously, I do save some...)

I spent approximately $2300CAD on anime DVD and manga in just one day, and not at a convention.
However, you are married, own a house, and so more responsibility is on you. My only responsibility is that I pay for my college, and I pay my expensive hobbies.
So in a few months, if UncleBob seems a little cranky we know why, it's because he couldn't buy a Wii.

Heh... I will have a Wii.
And I don't have a house (yet).
Things are looking up though - somewhat-sorta switched jobs so no more hour drives to work and two raises in the past month is nice.

Quote $13.21 for new copies of Drill Dozer ($7.48) and ($4.98) Viewtiful Joe at Target.
WOW good bargain! We still haven't got Drill Dozer at all here

(with some nasty late charges because of a check that didn't arrive in the mail on time)
What is this mysterious "check" thing? I hear they were quite popular when people were wearing top hats and monocles and were marvelling about the invention of the steam engine. That's sooo nostalgic, do you also use telegraphs instead of phones? Did you have to type your post in morse code? I thinke I have to write in ye olde Englishe so ye canst understande me!
Drill Dozer ($7.48)
What, you guys get price drops on GBA games? GBA games NEVER drop in price here. Only Sony does price drops and budget games other than their "greatest hits" line. That's why my PS2 library has been growing like mad while my GC library is stagnating and I buy a portable game like once a quarter. Nintendo really knows how to win a market...

Quote About $15 at White Castle for 40 Hidden Valley Chicken Rings and a 44 oz Sweet tea.
From now on, get 20 chicken rings and a 22oz soda. That should save you $7.50 a day. You'll have enough money for the Wii in no time (well, 40 days.)

My country is too lazy to make chicken into rings.

$78 to renew my tags for my car. $25 in Gas. About $15 at White Castle for 40 Hidden Valley Chicken Rings and a 44 oz Sweet tea. $327.13 for my car payment (with some nasty late charges because of a check that didn't arrive in the mail on time). ---- Everything else... $71.29 wasted
Every item bought is a roadblock to wii acquisition.

$25 for gas? may i ask how much gas is in your area, and if how much did you have in the tank, did you fill it up?
Title: RE: I spent too much money today...
Post by: UncleBob on July 29, 2006, 06:50:57 PM

Same price here, but the $25 dollars will often fill my tank due to the type of car I drive.
Anyway, I just spent $120 on Japanese soundtracks just a few minutes ago, so let's all join in and slap down our expensive and frivolous spending habits of late.

Yeah same, Mario Kart Super Circuit is more expensive than Mario Kart DS here.

Gas is like $3.10 here at the lowest. $20 fills my 2001 tacoma tank halfway .

no, actually i dislike big cars. i drive a '98 mitsu-galant but i have to drive a half hour to and from work everyday, sometimes making double the trips to pick up my girlfriend who works in the same area. we had a heat wave that month so the a/c was on alot of the time, and im the only one of my friends that has a car and one of the few with a job, so gas money is almost always coming out of my pocket. on top of all that, there really isnt anything all that special to do in my town so we always have to drive a good distance to do anything fun. lifes no fun, thats why i play video games

Diesel is like 5.53 USD/gal here, standard fuel is even more expensive.

No offense but from what I've heard that's pretty par for the course in Europe. You buy by the liter and it's what 4 liters to a gallon and then they charge the same price they charge for a gallon here and put a Euro sign in front of it (so right now it $2.85 where I live so that 2.85 Euros/liter so roughly 11.40 Euors/gallon. That stinks hardcore. No wonder you have an actually developed public transportation system.)

($110) giving myself a tune-up (Plugs, wires, Distributor, air filter, fuel filter,) only for my car to still run like an old lady. So I take it to the local mechanic for him to tell me that it's my exhaust and I may need a new catalytic converter. So then on the way to take my car to Pep Boys she breaks down and I have to call a tow truck ($75) but Pep Boys is booked for the day so Tow truck man takes me to another local grease monkey. Now I gotta leave a deposit just for him to look at it ($125). Then ha calls me 2days later and tell me my car is fixed and the deposit didn't cover everything so I need to bring more money($150). Now here's the punch-line. All I needed was a timing belt. A $44.95 freaking timing belt, but since I drove so far on the bad timing belt that I ended breaking the alternator and killing the battery. Oh I thought, I had dirty fuel injectors so I had to fill the tank up ($38.50) so I could add some STP.
This happened while on my only sunday off since Superbowl Sunday 05 (go eagles).
-No games, movies or anime was purchased during the making of this financial tragedy-

Man... Get Triple A. Towing would have been nada and you save on trips and random places. Plus all the maps you ever want and free locksmithing if you lock your keys in the car. At $75 a pop I know I more then made up my membership in towing and getting my car openned.

I hears you but I didin't think I needed AAA for a car I only paid $600 for. Cheap cars = NO Car Notes x MORE ISSUES.
