Title: who else is not really interested in the "classic" games for VC?
Post by: eljefe on July 27, 2006, 02:52:15 AM
My NES works, and I have sixteen games I play regularly. I couldn't see myself paying for most of them(or other games) just to play on Wii or save space.

Any other reasons?

You can save more space by putting away your NES. I wont be interested unless the games are emulated perfectly, since I never owned a NES and want to play the classics untouched.

You hve 16 games, fine, but you're saying there are no other games in Nintendo's backcatalog that interest you? What about SNES? MegaDrive (Genesis)? N64? You're A-grade crazy!

I have an ugly coffee table-type setup in the TV room with all the past Nintendo consoles sitting there.

It's not actually a coffee table, it's more like a bedroom side-table thing.  With the crowded top and all the cables between that and the TV/power outlets, it's not aesthetically pleasing.

I will still likely keep all my old consoles, but having the tiny Wii next to the DVD player and amplifier, I could essentially put away the entire table.  It would make the room look SO much better, not to mention actually allowing space for the more insane Wii games, or having more people over to play some Wii.

The Virtual Console will allow me this setup without losing the games I would be putting away along with the old consoles.  Except for maybe Killer Instinct and Killer Instinct Gold (due to them being by Rare(ware)), I imagine it shouldn't be a problem to re-buy my collection if I wanted to, as the majority of them from the Super NES onwards are Nintendo's own games.

However, it also depends on how the VC purchases/subscriptions/rentals/etc. actually work, and their prices/rates.

There's too many awesome original Wii games for me to care about VC games.

Once all of the Wii games have been played out, I might have a look around, especially at some of the Turbografx games.

I won't be getting any retro games at launch, but I will most definitely download some of my favorite titles during a drought, just so I can have them on-hand... ^_^

I am with Bill no retro games at launch...but Retro games will become my new guilty pleasure.  Any time I am looking for a classic game fix I am going to be hitting the virtual console.

I did a list of games I wanted and I think it was like 60 classic games from all the consoles...and that was before I knew about Sega and Turbo Graphics 16 games.

So that list has likely doubled.

But the best part of the virtual console will be the fact that Birthday presents will be easy for me.  With cheap virtual console games available I can ask everyone to get me a game for my birthday.

I just hope that the system is launched in October so that by the time by Birthday comes the virtual console will be up and running.

I'm interested.  Pretty much because my little brother stole all my systems and games when I went to college.  He sold them and misplaced them and the like.  Which was really annoying.  There is also a lot of games I hadn't played.  As mentioned I'm one of the few who didn't have an SNES.

This is my favorite part of the system.  There were alot of NES and SNES games I never bought that I wish I would of.  When I get a Wii, I'm going to go crazy and just spend nights downloading old games.  Plus I never owned a Genesis or PC-Engine so I'll be downloading a ton of games from those systems as well.

Then there's also the fact that we might be able to download games from Japan as well, meaning we'll be able to download alot of the great Japanese only games, like Goemon, Twinbee, the first five Fire Emblems, and maybe Dracula X: Rondo of Blood.

I'm going to end up spending hundreds of dollars just on Virtual Console games alone.

I'm buying A Wii for Super Metroid and Donkey Kong Country. Everything else is bonus time.

I am interested in the classic games, however I will spend alot more time with the new games, I will play classic games if I have no new games to play with.

I'm definitely interested in it.  However, one thing I was thinking about was maybe getting free downloads of some games when purchasing certain games.  Like maybe getting Excite Bike for free as a download when purchasing Excite Truck or something like that.

I'll still buy a bunch of games, but getting a few as bonus items for buying Wii games would rule as well.

I'm interested, but I'm more interested in the non-Nintendo options.....
Dracula X: Rondo of Blood *¬*

earthbound, sin & punishment, and mario rpg are the tree games i've been wanting to play for months now.
mario rpg is just plain missing; dont know what the hell happened to it...
earthbound is on loan to a friend who went off to college and sin & punishment i never owned, but borrowed from a friend who imported, who no longer lives near me so i thought my chances of ever playing that again is lost.
i could list tons more but those are my top three right now, if i could play those on day one i will.

I just recently got my old SNES working again and played games like F-Zero and Urban Strike(SEGA) on my 60" TV.  Hot dang is it awesome, the bass in the old games are incredible.  I will be thrilled to pay the price so I can have all of my favorite old games for all of my favorite systems all in one convenient place.

I had actually thought Nintendo would release a comphelation ablum for the GameCube shortly after it released, and was quite dissapointed with Nintendo's lack of reviving their classics in emulated form up until I heard about the Wii's Virtual Console.

To begin with, I really think we need more consoles. Sega Saturn absolutely has to be there.

I saw that Atari is losing money.. what are you waiting for, Nintendo? Buy that crap, buy it now! Get all their IPs, backlog.. it would be the best thing to happen to Atari since Nolan released the VCS!

But most importantly.. I have played most of the "best of" stuff on these consoles. Super Mario World and Bonk's Adventure aren't exactly going to sell to me. I've beaten all those games a zillion times.  A translated Star Ocean, Policenauts, or Rondo of Blood will sell to me, even more than will Wii software.

So, Nintendo needs: 1) More consoles. Sega Saturn and Master System in particular. 2) New stuff. 3) Translated stuff. 4) Re-releasing old games. That'll get the attention of hardcore retrogamers like me.

I totally agree that Master System should be included, but as discussed ad nauseam in another thread, Saturn might not be practical, and I think it's great that Nintendo is giving us any non-Nintendo consoles.  Sony and Microsoft will have nothing like this.

I'm interested in Earthbound, and if any un-released Japanese games make it on the console, there are a few I'd be interested in.  Probably also some Genesis and Turbografx 16 games, but like someone else said, I'll be too busy with Wii games to bother with these old ones for a while.

I'm definitely going to download at least MARIO TENNIS (cuz GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD damn! I"ve been wanting to play that game ever since I lost it!)

So ya....

I think i'll buy a new game every week.

The best version right?  The one for the Virtual Boy which isn't on the support list yet...
