Title: Truly A Second Opinion
Post by: MaryJane on July 26, 2006, 01:16:05 PM
The Trauma Center game I was so looking forward slightly disappointed me when IGN reported (from famitsu) that the game is a remake not an all new game.

I guess we shouldv'e guessed from the name? New doctor, a few new characters and surgery, I'm still going to buy it.

Sopposedly, it is so different that people who MASTERED TC on the DS will still have a good time.

I'm still getting it, specially if they add depth to surgery.

Who cares if it is a remake...the game design is going to be so drastically different that it doesn't matter if the story is the same.

I just read about this on joystiq, I'm kind of disapointed but even if it is the same game we're going to be playing it totaly differnt. So its going to be worth picking up again.

Not a remake, it's a completely new game.
Quote

Instead of being a port or revision of the DS title, Second Opinion will be a completely new game that takes full advantage of the Wii Remote though a revised control system. According to Atlus, there will be new surgical implements and operation types, a second playable character with accompanying new missions, multiple difficulty modes, enhanced graphics and animation, and more for the title. It was also noted that there will be even more new gameplay elements revealed over the coming months leading up to the game's launch.

Gonintendo says Atlus said IT'S A LAUNCH TITLE

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO HELLO NURSE AND HAWT DOCTOR LADY

I'm pretty sure this is a remake. I think what Atlus is trying to say is that it's going to be more along the lines of the GCN remake of Resident Evil where almost everything is changed or improved over the original, rather than just some graphical facelift.

Of course, I'm such a Trauma Center whore I'd buy it even if it was just a straight port of the DS version.

Easy mode alone makes it worth owning.

You know I always beleived that you should get the barest story when you play on Easy mode, get the general story in normal mode, and the whole complete every little detail know the loose ends that are suppose to be tied up are without a doubt and you know the main characters mothers favorite song level of detail story for hard.  As it is when I beat something on normal and its like:

Game: Look theres a hard mode now!
Me: Will it give me more story?
Game: No.
Me: Different levels?
Game: No.
Me:  Ok then whats the point?
Game: You get a cool custome(sp?) to run through the game again with.  Making it easier even.
Me:  I just beat the game why do I need something to make it easier?
Game:  Its purdy.
Me:  Goodbye.

Now if it did something useful like get rid of the water in WW then I beat the other game again.  (Though ancient Hyrulean reading sounds cool.)

Less well endowed players everywhere howl in anguish.

Please, please, don't punish us too harshly because we suck. We can understand missing out on cool costumes, missing out on secret agent type accomplishments and missions, missing out on secret rooms and power-ups and whatnot... but at least give us the whole story! /cry

As it was done in Gunstar Super Heroes? The story is mind-numbingly stupid on Easy. "OMG we're benig attacked! You there, go fight them!"

In all honesty, did that game need a story though?
