Title: What valid excuse could you possibly have for being Wiiless this Christmas?
Post by: JonLeung on July 26, 2006, 08:01:55 AM
What valid excuse could you possibly have for not having a Wii by Christmas this year?
I think most of us here are big enough Nintendo fans that it seems likely that many of us will have it on launch day. If not, because real life intervenes, most of those remaining will likely secure it that first week. Or first month?
If you're a younger one and don't have a job, perhaps you'll have to wait until Christmas. (Or Decemberween/Festivus/Kwanzaa/Hannukah/Xmas/etc.)
But if you're not going to be Wiiing like the rest of us by Christmas, what's your excuse?
(I have a 'net friend who's doing some Mormon (I think) thing, and it seems like, aside from his weekly email check, he has no contact with modern comforts and conveniences. He needs me to email him Wii news. He won't be able to play a Wii until April 2008. Religion is a valid excuse. But aside from that I can't think of any.)

Flat f*ck broke.
No job, no money, no source of income.
That'd be the only reason I could think of.

Somebody chops off my hands and stabs out my eyes.
...Although I guess if somebody taped a Wiimote to one of my stumps I could still play WiiMusic by hearing alone.

I have too much pride to let others buy things like this for me, and I don't make all that much. Take out the amount needed to fill my gas tank for my non-paying position, and I don't have that much left over per month for my fun stuff

My mom messes me over again like with Taxes this year and I end up owing someone an excess of $1000 in any given month.

I have enough money, lets just hope I don't see an Infommercial for any Ronco products between now and October or we could have a problem.

Death isn't a valid excuse alone. The death certificate would have to contain the either the words "Incinerated" or "Liquefied". That or some strange time travel accident where I cease to exist.

sony reps put a gun to my head, warning me of massive damage that could be done to my cerebrum, and force me to buy a ps3 which will set me back a year or so. that'd be the only way i'd buy a ps3 AND not be wiiless this xmas

Now you said nothing about stealing the PS3...

lol i would only steal one to sell it on ebay when shortages are announced and a few dumb fanboys decide they have $1000+ to waste on one.
reminds me of the time some guy got jumped in the mall i work at for his xbox360.... good times

If there's any console I'd encourage you to order two of, it's the Wii.
Nintendo plans to roll out 6 million Wiis and I have an inkling that this will not be enough to sate demand.

Well I just made $125 in trade-in credit through Gamestop, so I think I'm about $70 out (I say 70 because I'm damn sure it will cost $200, although with no pack-in game).
However, I want to get a second one.
Why?
To have sex with it, of course.
So I really need $270.
I'm sure the sex will hold off the urge to pick up a few games, so I can make up for those later on.
Good thing my birthday is in September. Maybe I can swing that by my parents and friends.

I might get too high.
But I'd eventually come down, then beat up, rape, kill, or utterly destroy whomever was necessary to obtain one.
So I guess nothing is going to stop me.

How much did you trade in for $125?
Edit:
Here is some light reading that I thought was relevant to this topic.

18 very crappy old PS2 games I'd never play. We're talking Kengo, SSX, Haven, etc.
Additionally, went to a Rhino Games, found 3 new games for $2.50 (they are having some sort of clearance right now), so basically paid 8 bucks for them, took them to GS and they ended up trading for 24.75.
Combined with the 99.55 from the 18 games, that meant $125.
But I'm probably going to put that down toward both versions of Zelda and Contact. Then there's Super Paper Mario, which I am wet for.
Which still leaves the Wii...
So many choices...
Or I could just use it to get games during a B2G1 used sale.

It was the Wii that made me (or will make me i guess) do it. Not the weed.

The big test is, could MaryJane give up his habitual drug consumption for a Nintendo Wii?
I plan on reserving a Wii as soon as that's available. I may buy an extra one for the speculative market around Christmas.

The only way I'd go without a Wii by Christmas would be if massive fires at the production plant and storage facilities caused thw Wii to launch on Dec 26th.

-Sold out everywhere -Lack of funds due to anime and holiday present buying tapping me out. -I DO want a better TV than my LQ 1992 less than 20in one to play a Wii on. Or...exactly how to get the whole VGA thing working and get one of those for it since the Wii'll have to be in the same room as my PC since the Internet connection lives there. -Something just goes terribly wrong with it all.

*too busy playing mafia 327
*Reggie was there and died of shock
*waited in the worng line
*burn down all the gaming store and no were left to buy it

Perhaps if *insert popular attractive female actress here*starts dating me and everytime I go to purchase one she offers to pleasure me. That would be the only way I would be stopped.

Would it not be possible to simply ask her to pleasure you en route a la "Vice city hooker".

Well what about ZERO launch info? No mention on the price or what games will launch? No since to buy the WII just for Zelda TP, I'll wait for Mario G--been a shortages of platformers lately that were any good--Sly 3 was the last one I played and that's over 6+ months ago.

I suppose if you don't celebrate Christmas, that could be a reason.
Do they give gifts in Hanukkah and Kwanzaa? My ignorance of other holidays is appalling. I'll look them up on Wikipedia in a moment.

I know Jewish people get gifts for Hanukkah, they spread them out over all 8 days. I dont know about Kwanzaa though.

Strip clubs. That, or total mindf*ck. Oh, and Jews don't neccesarily get gifts past the first day...it's a pretty loose policy; presents aren't even the core part of the holiday (in my mind that is).
