Title: Gitaroo man
Post by: NWR_pap64 on June 24, 2006, 09:07:44 PM
So I finally found a copy of the game...
I've been very curious about the game and I've been meaning to get a copy of the game because some of my friends really love the game. And after playing a lot of Ouendan on the DS (which was made by the same company) and loving it, my curiosity of the game grew even more.
So far, I have to say this is perhaps one of the most frustrating music games yet!
The learning curve is extremely big, perhaps even bigger than that of Ouendan's. Both games aim for the "simple to learn, hard to master" type of control scheme, but I think Gitaroo man is the hardest of the two. The line control with the X button and the left stick is surprisingly tricky, perhaps a bit too tricky since even the smallest mistake can destroy the line. Not to mention awkward and painful on the fingers.
To be honest, I have yet to see why people love this game so much. So far, I like Ouendan better. Then again, when I started playing that one I did have a rough learning period till I was finally able to enjoy it, so maybe Gitaroo man will get better.
Any words on this?

You sure you weren't supposed to pick up Guitar Hero instead? That's the one that gets all the praise.

Gitaroo man has been getting all the praise WAY before Guitar hero was even announced...
Seriously, I have yet to find a bad review of the game or someone that totally hates the game.
Right now I am hoping that, like Oundan, the game becomes extremely fun once you truly master the game. I remember that when I first played Ouendan it was frustrating, but once I got the hang of the controls and the gameplay it became insanely fun.
But to be honest, I rather play Ouendan on the touch screen than Gitaroo man with the PS2 controller. My thumbs are aching badly...

Gitaroo Man is great, definately my favourite music game of all time. I haven't played Ouendan, but I doubt I'll like it more than Gitaroo Man. It took me literally years to finally complete all of it, and I loved every second of it.

For those line things you really have to get used to it, you don't need 100% accuracy with it just almost, the tricky part is the small ripples where you have to wiggle it slightly.
I wonder how frustering it will be to do that on the PSP since gitaroo-man lives! is an enhanced port of gitaroo-man.
