It'd be awesome if this was an awesome for ultra-hardcore elitist gamers. Of course, it would be optional, because the Wii Classic already exists for the most of us out here.

But to get the most out of the VC you would need those.
(As a set, with the case.)
<insert thing in blacked over text here. Oh wait I don't know how to do that blah...>

I really don't like how the wired controllers plug into the remote. Are we supposed to play with that thing dangling? If they have to do it that way, fine, but make the cord long like a normal controller.

lol. That would be hilarious. Have a cord dangling from the Wiimote with a wireless receiver.

It would be so much more logical just to put a Gamecube port instead of a remote port.

Im failry sure 3rd parties are already working on adapters to allow you to use classic controllers with the wii controllers, theres more then likely also going to be cord extensions.

Even if it more awkward, I'd prefer the solution they're using now over being tethered to the console.

I think Go Nintendo was right "Was this a suitcase put together just to demonstrate the backwards compatibility, thus making it purely for show?" They're not going to line the store shelves with boxes of decades-old controllers alongside the nunchuck attachments. I'd rather buy a pack of small adapters. That and the classic controller would be more than enough options for everyone.

They better be available! I hate playing classic games on substitute controllers (The originaly LoZ played horribly on the cube controller, imo). I jumped for joy when I saw these.
The cord connecting the wiimote to one seems to suggest that they aren't just for show, so I'll be very dissapointed if it turns out they were.

This makes me sad.
Because I'd have to buy five sets of these to play all the games correctly.

I think in this case it would make sense to limit "authentic" classic controllers to the Nintendo online store while making the generic classic controller available in stores. For most people the generic one will suffice. Hardcores will be the main market for something like these. So in this case I think it would make the most sense to limit them to online.

I doubt Nintendo will let you plug in your actual old controllers.
But if they did, that would be the awesomest thing ever.
Then, if they'd just let us get free downloads for all the games we already own....

That's kinda what I figured they might do if this is actually true. Maybe, just maybe Video Game-only stores (Game Crazy, EBGames, etc..) could carry 'em, if there's enough interest in 'em.

Nuby. I'll bet they'll do it. They have stated that there going to bring things to the Wii and even did a little thing talking about how Nintendo has a high quality standard for peripheral makers. Be like the X controller or the chainsaw.

seems pretty cool, although I'd prefer just the N64 one with a better stick ^^

LOL. I was thinking the exact same thing. The N64 controller with a Gamecube stick would be amazing.
But in general I would like to plug the classic controllers into the Wii. I have every system predating the Wii and a bunch of controllers for each so using those controllers without having to buy extras would be great. But if I have to buy a replica from every system to enjoy classic games in their true form I will.

As someone who doesnt like the generic shell and would prefer an N64 pad, I also think that the N64 stick isnt good and the new sticks are better.
With just slight modifications, like the stick and bigger c buttons and other details that scape me at the moment, the N64 controller could be perfect for any traditional game.

I actually preferred the N64 stick, except for the fact that it wore out. It seemed to offer better resistance than the GameCube stick. Doesn't really matter to me, though, I will gladly make do (due???) with GameCube/Wii classic controllers.

Something just smacked me upside the head! The Wii only supports four controllers!
Guess I'll only need 4 of these instead of five... The Virtual Console concept has limits! It fails!

I think limited edition retro controllers would be cool. Perhaps something not found in the stores but only in Nintendo's online store.
I would buy a couple of SNES controllers, and a couple of Nintendo 64 controllers easy IF the price is right.
The Nintendo 64 controllers are easily the most important controller that ends to be replicated because it is so different from every other controller made.
If prices weren't right I would probably stick with getting 4 of the Wii classic controllers, and a few Nintendo 64 controllers if I download a game that needs it.

Other than the Super Bomberman games, what games actually required five players simultaneously? I can't think of any...
There might have been the odd game that had a secret code to be entered on the Player 5 game pad, but still...I don't think it's a major loss...

Madden and probably some other EA Sports games as well.

Super Bomberman only allowed you to play with 4 players, though I think Super Bomberman 2 may have allowed 5...I don't think it did.
The only games I know for sure that allowed 5 were the EA sports games. But, those games weren't good with 5 players. It is actually quite silly to play sports games with more than 2 people.
But 5 players is crazy, because it means one time always has that 3rd human player advantage, that would just suck.
I also think that perhaps the Micromachine game/games for SNES allowed 5 players as well.

If memory serves Looney Tunes B-ball allowed 5 players on the SNES. That games is the business.
Anyway, I would LOVE to play VC games on retro controllers. I would at least buy one of each just becasue I would want the games to play and feel right.

Super Bomberman 3 and up allowed Five Players at a time. Although they wern't released in the states.
Here's hoping that Saturn Bomberman game with 10 Players comes out on the Wii somehow.

I could've sworn that LTB-B only supported 4 players. It was 2 on 2 basketball, where could a fifth player play? and an even better question, how would you plug in a 5th controller? A third multitap?
Title: RE: Can you plug Retro-Replica Controllers into Wiimote?

SNES Super Multi-Taps feature Four ports on them and they plug into the 2nd Controller Port. So Player 1 uses Controller Port #1 and Players 2-5 use Controller Port #2+Multi-Tap.
Can't speak for LTBB though...

Well, it has been quite a few years since I've played LTBB so I could be wrong. I could've sworn you could have 5 players though. I'll have to plug in the SNES and take a look to be 100% certain.
