Title: Hits of 2003, Rumors, Big Guns, speculation
Post by: ThePerm on March 01, 2003, 07:51:49 AM
There is alot rumored to be going down in Nintendoville. A bunch of games are coming out that will or should be hits.
First we have Zelda. This game is a must have for gamecube owners. The puzzles, battles, adventure. Must have.
Then theres the capcom 5. Not all of thse are comign out this year, but their worth listing.
Viewtiful Joe, killer 7, Dead Phoenix, Project No. 3, and of coarse resident evil 4
Then konami has soem games coming, Teenage Mutent Ninja Turtles, a mysterious Metal gear game and a rumored castlevania game.
Then theres Squaresoft with Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles. Final Fantasy on a nintendo console thats just awesome.
Silicon Knights said that they are cooking up some projects. We might not necassarily get too human, but i think after playing ED. any game from SK should be worth checking.
Whats retro doing. Who knows with metroid prime ready to ship in europe they shoudl have a clean development plate. Rumors of Metroid Prime 2 have surfaced and the engine can be reused maybe wiht a bit of upgrades. Also, who knows what could happen...kid icarus anyone?(i wish....however i dont think it needs the metroid fps treatment..though metroid rocks...its jsut not right for a flying cupid game)
Thq has sphinx....Eurocom is highly respected by me. Their great programmers yet theyve been stuck with liscenced stuff. Their bond games are really good the only reason why their not great is because they have to differentiate themselves from rare...if they didnt have to then they wouldnt.
Nintendo has pikmin 2, rumored animal crossing 2, mario 128, kirby's air ride. A rumored new zelda..that isnt far along...but its still there.
NST has 1080° Avalanche. This game looks pretty good. Snowboardin g games are still pretty popular.
Treasure is making Wario World. The idea of wario gettign his own 3d game is just a sweet
idea. The greedy bastard can steal money and wrestle his way ot the top.
  Sega is making F-Zero
  Namco is making Starfox.
nuff said.

The RPG from Monolith is quite high on my list of games I am curious about.  Xenogears rocks my world, and I want to see them repeat that with a new franchise altogether.

i agree- i played through xenogears and i am presently playing xenosaga
both are good, good rpgs
i think they are the only 2 monoloth has made- both focused on good stories with great gameplay
this may be the great rpg the gamecube desperately needs (besides ffcc and skies)

I really hope that Metriod Prime 2 will have it so you can zoom in with a special sniper beam and also more BIG ASS MONSTERS! I want to feel like I could die at anytime.

Technically, Monolith Soft didn't make Xenogears, Squaresoft did.  The franchise was then bought by Namco at the great plea's from the creator of Xenogears and former Squaresoft employee.  They then picked up some more people from Square that worked on Xenogears and made Xenosaga.

So it's for the most part, the same people but definitely a different company.

We also have Mario Kart³ to think about.

I definitely think the difficulty level should be bumped up in Metroid Prime 2.  I mean, the first one wasn't super hard because its a new genre and people have to get used to the controls and what not, but I think the next one needs to be hard.  And about the 2003 line up, let me say that I am overwhelmed and I am almost afraid that I won't get all the good games.....hehe.  Its gonna be hard for me to stay on top of things, because my life outside of videogames is pretty busy.  Hopefully I'll find time to play all these great games coming out

Magic box is full of crap. In the recent DICE interview with Shiggy he was asked about the possibility of a Zelda with realistic graphics. Shiggy responded that a realistic Zelda was a definite possibility but that whether the next game was cel-shaded or realistic depended on what type of game it will be. Shiggy went on to say that they have not thought about what type of Zelda game the next one will be because they have not started working on it yet. This also goes back to the Summit interview in which Shiggy said that if the next Zelda was more action orientated like the Adventures of Link then the cel-shaded graphics wouldn't work therefore they would need to use realistic graphics for that type of Zelda game.

In other words there is a good possibility that a future Zelda game (not necessarily the next one) will have realistic graphics but for Magic box to say the sequel to Wind Waker will have those kinds of graphics is complete bull. They are just pulling that out of their ass.

Finally I would like to know where you got that crap about Zelda's roots being "3D realism". Zelda's roots are 2D cartoony 8 bit graphics. Yes, there were Zelda games before the Ocarina of Time.

The Magic Box is one of the best sources out there for news. They're not the type to post bullshit..

- Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has confimred that two new Zelda titles are in development for GameCube, one will continue to use the toon-shading graphics as in Wind Waker, another one will use the realistic graphics as in Ocarina of Time

Miyamoto did not confirm there was two Zelda games in development. Quite the opposite he said they hadn't even started on the next Zelda game and would not decide whether to use the realistic graphics or not until he started working on the 2nd GC game. Click here to go to a nintendojo.com forum discussion about this and scroll down to the 12th post and you will be able to read exactly what Shiggy said about the next Zelda game in the DICE interview.

Who said Ocarina of Time had realistic graphics? Nor Ocarina nor any video game has realistic graphics, go ahead check your bonus disc, rationalize people, if you want realistic graphics watch a film or tv. Games have a long way to go till they can trick the mind in seeing something that resembles anything realistic out of the real world.

I know this is out of topic, I apologise.

Well now that metroid prime is selling so well, im sure retro will include something of a multiplayer. Dont tell me a 4 player deathmatch would not be badass, or even co-op (splooges). And so what if they had to bump the frame rate to 30 fps in order for any of that to happen, id buy it not like 30 fps is bad or anyhting.

Looks like I might just stop buying Ps2, and Xbox games.  There are too many great cube games coming.

i couldnt agree more
and after all, we really get a decent supply of multiplattform titles of the highest calibre
i mean, its not like theres not already more than enough AAA+exclusives but also really great multiplattformers like

Starcraft Ghost, Tony Hawk 5, Timesplitters 3, True Crime:Streets of LA, Splinter Cell etc

also forgot to mention Namco has link in soul caliber
sega is working on virtua fighter quest
Sonic adventure dx

of coarse the multi platform games
and also in 2003 you can also play 2001 and 2002 games. If eternal darkness has a sequal then im sure peopel will pick up eternal darkness. I mean when resident evil 2 came out alot of people picked up resident evil 1 because they doidnt play the first.
