One of their big exclusives alledgedly ran on an XCircle. Don't remember which one, though.

This kind of stuff doesn't really surpise me and because of problems with the system itself that won't be worked out until too late I expect there to be few units at launch as well as high defect rates.

I don't think any of the Wii games were running on actual Wii hardware either even though the console seemed to be sitting out front. Whenever a freeze up happened, the reps would reboot them from something down on the floor. I dunno.

Perhaps they were running on devkits or something else that simply didn't fit into the Wii case?

I heard they actually did have games running on the actual hardware, but they were behind closed doors...

I have to agree with the dev kit idea. Actual Wii's would need discs burned for them.

i doubt those were real wiis, i doubt even the hardware is final. Nintendo may be playing the ram card. Also, as far as the gfx chip goes?? I'm pretty sure it can do better than these x-box-esque gfx. must not be complete.

I'm sure Wii will stack up fine on Standard TVs against Xbox 360 and PS3, heck most of Nintendo's games came close to it and I'm sure they are tweaking them as time goes on, especially since they now have more room to work with when it comes to pricing!

What they were actually running on looked like GameCubes, annd must have been the "souped-up" Gamecubes(Rev Dev kits) that have been mentioned b4.

I don't know about this show, but many GameCube demos were running off computers behind curtains at E3 2001. No real surprises here.

LOL, big deal. Sony didn't even try to hide it. They had glass cases full of devkits at every PS3 station. Of course neither piece of hardware is finished yet. Even some DS games in progress ran off of devkits instead of Flash ROMs.

It's not a huge deal, except for what Sony did with the PS2. They made unrealistic promises about the capabilities of the system, and a lot of the tech demos (which were again, running on development hardware) looked far better than anything we wound up seeing on the final console.
I don't think it's much of an issue here though: what I saw didn't make the PS3 look head and shoulders above the 360 to begin with.
