Title: IMPRESSIONS: Wario Ware: Smooth Moves
Post by: StrikerObi on May 10, 2006, 12:01:05 PM
Microgames go crazy on the Wii.

What better use for a brand new motion-sensitive controller could there be other than a bunch of hectic 5-second microgames? WarioWare: Smooth Moves is available to play at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo. The demo, which is very short, serves up a few microgames to each player. Before each game, a picture shows up on screen to explain how to hold the controller for the upcoming microgame. Examples include the following:

The games, of course, are very fast paced. Some of the ones I played include swatting-flies, lifting weights, slicing objects, and shredding paper. There’s really not much to WarioWare. Just like its predecessors, it’s totally frantic and a ton of fun. The Wii remote opens up a whole new realm of crazy gameplay options.

I was a little concerned that having you hold the controller in different ways would be a little confusing....but this standard set of 5 positions sounds like it'll take care of that.

Smooth Moves sounds very much like it could be the best of the Warioware's and the perfect party game. Woo-hoo.

There are a lot more than five controller positions. Those were just some examples. There were maybe 15 total, but I'm not sure exactly. Anyway, a picture shows you how to hold the controller beforehand, and it works fine.

If the crowds aren't too bad tomorrow I plan on camping one of the screens and writing them all down.  Some of them were just too funny to forget.  We'll need to start using the names in our stories... "The Chauffeur". Heh.
