That's awesome. About damn time.
Now where the hell is my SSB?

Awesome! Now get me Wild Gunmen!
This also bodes well for more surprise announcements today, such as my damn Kid Icarus! Perhaps by Namco...their list says 'Action title'.

I believe that the new Duck Hunt and Track and Field will probably be a part of the Nintendo Sports game in the end.
It makes perfect sense. A whole lot of simple party games in one package with a Sports theme.
I think that would be sweet.

That Track & Field clip from the conference was a clip from WarioWare, I believe.

Awesome. I think Nintendo's (slightly) odd conference yesterday is now explainable: they didn't want to have one. What they really wanted to do was let everyone just get on the floor and play. Their concern is proving the controller, not giving the info. Thus these surprises today!
On topic, yay! I do hope it goes in as a pack in. Awesomeness.

Honestly, I don't understand how ppl expect SSB at launch when they just began work on it recently (remember when the news broke that they had JUST recruited the guy who did SSB:M to come back and do the Revo version? That was not so long ago). I mean, I'm a bit PO'ed that it's not on time either but this was sort of like launching the PS3 in the summer (in other words, not happening).
AHHHHH...anyways Duck Hunt: I feel like it should be part of Wii Sports and that Wii Sports should be packed-in.

Stealing cars and shooting people are illegal. Even if you were right, what would be your point?

It's tasteless and not enjoyable in any way. I can't believe you guys are getting excited over a duck hunting game! Do ducks shoot back? No. Boring.

YOUR SSB?!?
I'm surprised we haven't seen more light gun games out for the Wii. The main barrier for light gun games is the fact that no one wants to spent the money on an additional peripheral.
With the wiimote, every Rev owner already likely has several light guns.

Yes, Zelda = Chun Li, DK = Zangief, Link = Ken.
I will WTFPWN you with my Street Fighter skins when this game goes online.

"IGN has learned that Nintendo will be showing a gun peripheral for the Nintendo Wii in conjunction with the "new generation" Duck Hunt sequel. Allegedly, the device will work along with the Wii-mote to create the classic feel of the original NES classic, although there is still a chance of an entire "stand-alone" unit. We have yet to go hands-on with the peripheral, but will be sure to add impressions and media when the chance arrives." http://revolution.ign.com/articles/706/706989p1.html
Ummm... why? Isn't that what the Wii-mote is for? Doesn't including that seem to take away some of the point of the controller in the first place?

I don't really find this news exciting at all. I mean, maybe as a mini game, but on its own? No thanks. If it's part of the sports pack, as somebody suggested, that would be alright.

I read that too Arbok, and wondered the exact same thing.
It makes me wonder if this isn't some joke brought about by IGN, kind of like their April Fools Day joke a year ago for the GBA where Duck Hunt and Gyromight became part of the NES classics. Each also had a smaller version of thier respective peripherals (the Zapper and R.O.B for those who do not know).
Title: RE: new Duck Hunt!

Arbok: The controller is only useful as a pointer if there's a cursor on screen, which pretty much destroys all the fun and challenge of a game like Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, or Time Crisis. A gun peripheral would have an actual gunsight on it with which to aim.

actually, Nintendo announced the game one year ago, although I don't really know when actual development started (later than that, june/july maybe?)

I recall an interview with HAL Labs where they said they were completely caught off gaurd by Iwata's comments and development started that day. First design feature: online.
Last time Iwata phoned me up I asked him about it and he just said "lol i didn't even know what games we were making so I just said off the first one that came to my head."

I have a feeling (though I'm sure we'll know shortly) that this was a miscommunication. Duck Hunt is probably the NES version running on the Virtual Console, using the Wii controller to emulate the Zapper.
If that's the case, screw that ... I want Hogan's Alley.

E3 has Early Access for media this year, so they've already been down there for nearly 2 1/2 hours Doors opened to the rest of the industry at 11AM Pacific, so I suspect the updates should start flowing very soon, as the media moves to the Media Center and away from the sweaty throng.

I have to confess, although seeing e3 as a big success, I am puzzled that they held back on talking about the new classic controller AND the light gun, only to show it...the NEXT DAY! without any explanation.
nintendo never ceases to amaze...

I think that gun is actually REALLY cool.

The gun looks kick ass. It looks big so it'll give me that bad ass feeling I get when I hold my brother's shotgun with one hand.
The weird thing about that pic is the the traditional controller is connected to the remote. What's the point of that? That controller is designed for two hands. You can't be holding the remote at the same time.
Title: RE: new Duck Hunt!

Clearly a prototype as far as the light gun "sleeve" is concerned. As for the classic controller, it was in the press materials, so it wasn't exactly a secret.

What color controller is that in the pick? Ice blue? It looks......sexy, but black will always dominate when it comes to style.
Anyways, good news all around, although I think it's kinda thin for it's own game. Maybe a hunting game? Traverse different locales maybe? Maybe set traps and stuff of that nature?

I wouldn't mind using that gun for all FPSs either.
Title: RE: new Duck Hunt!

That gun looks sweet. YOu could play an fps with it because of the analog stick. I'm sure it has the two buttons from the nunchuk too. It wouldn't have dual gryos tho.
The gun is probably an optional dealio as it doesn't give you anything the wiimote and nunchuk wouldn't have in terms of functionality. But it would be fun to own.l

It really doesn't actually. The remote mounted in the front was the only logical way to do such a thing. The thumbstick on the back was a lucky stroke, but I seem to recall that having been done on another controller before. Other than those two details, they're COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. IGN even showed the two to show how similar they looked, which was kind of funny.
Seriously, anyone making a mock-up would have done the exact same thing, maybe sans the stick on the butt of the gun.
Frankly, with the remote already having a trigger and the nunchuck, I'm not sure why you'd even need such an add-on, but I'll get one anyway. :P

Well, the biggest reason I had for wanting a gun attachment was an actual gunsight, and they didn't even get that right. There doesn't appear to be any legitimate reason for this controller add-on.

it looks really cool is a good reason.
i kind of hope it won't be able to play all FPS games, then devs would have to make a game solely for it, therefor further legitimizing my purchase. But i'm going to buy it regardless, what i said would just make me feel better about it.
