Title: Guild Wars Factions
Post by: Shecky on April 29, 2006, 07:19:21 PM
So I was a fan of the first one when it came out... I'll probably pick this one up.

Any dirt on this title though?

Improvements I'm hoping to see:
* Auction House (all the RED DYE messages need to go!)
* Easier to obtain spells for PVP (last game was stupid in that PVP only characters didn't have access to all the spells/abilities)

Considering that both cost the same, which would you recommend to a newcomer, GW or GWF?

I just picked it up today, can't wait till I have some time to play it.
I loved the first one, and you can't go wrong with a no-fee MMORPG =P

KDR: I'll be sure to chime in when I get a chance to try GWF out.  Should pick it up this weekend.

Well KDR it depends what you want.

If you want to know the complete backstory and explore the first continent get GW.

But if you don't care about the story of the first game and just want to just jump in into the new continent with all the old items and classes + new items and two new classes then go right ahead with factions. Bewarned though if you get factions you can't go to the first continent and won't know the story of the first game. So the only way to get all the content is with both games.

Quick impressions on the single player....

Good
- Tried one of the new classes, played well.
- New music is cool

Bad
- Computer AI aid seems even dumber
- Pets are still expensive, not all that bright
- Gates preventing me from going to some areas (why?)
