Title: Gamecube Trouble

Hi, I'm brand new to gamecube forums. I've had a gamecube for about a year and a half. I just joined here for some help, I'm having trouble with my gamecube and its one of the weirdest things i've ever seen.

I switched on my gamecube and was told my clock settings had been lost (and it had somehow put my clock forward about 6 years!)

Next, since my Gamecube is Pal, in most of my games i'm given the 50hz/60hz option. But for some reason i'm not given this choice anymore when my games load up! it just goes straight to reading the memory card then starting the games.

I thought the clock part could be down to a dead lithium battery but when i took a look at the cube I couldnt find a place in which a battery might be stored.

Can anyone help. I feel a bit robbed having to play my games 20% slower and with a slightly lower resolution. Many thanks for any help!

Not a lithium battery. Look for a little, round battery like those CMOS batteries. Does it still store changes you make?

Yes after I changed the date back yesterday it has kept it. But I still cant find a battery compartment on the console. And will this also explain the 50/60Hz issue?

If you're intent on finding the battery, it's located on the faceplate's PCB. So you'll have to open up your Cube. Was there a thunderstorm in your area recently? I'm convinced my neighborhood has the worst power reliability in the entire first world. The power surges/brownouts/outages have, on occasion, cleared the memory of electronics that should retain settings through outages. They're [usually] fine afterward. You could try unplugging it for awhile to let the power drain out and see if it corrects your problem(s).

Hold down B when booting up the Cube (with a 60hz compatable game in it) to bring back the 60hz option.

Thanks alot Mario, I'll try that. The clock seems to be ok now. It hasn't changed since. I was hoping the battery compartment would be external like it was on the Saga Saturn, just in case it does happen to go flat. Its an odd thing to happen, if anything goes wrong with power, usually the clock sets back to its launch date, but to jump forward about 6 years? Crazy cube. :p Thanks for the help all.
