Title: Iwata Compares Nintendo to Apple and mySpace (News and Haiku Thread)
Post by: Jonnyboy117 on March 23, 2006, 08:51:07 AM
But the biggest Revolution secret will not be revealed for a few more weeks (E3).
In his GDC Keynote speech today, Satoru Iwata said he wants Nintendo WiFi Connection to be like mySpace in terms of ease of use and popularity. He also compared Revolution's Virtual Console service to iTunes and said that once other companies saw it, they jumped on board eagerly. This claim was backed up by the announcement that Sega Genesis (Megadrive) and TurboGrafx games will be available for the Virtual Console, in addition to Nintendo's own games from NES, SNES, and N64.
Although Nintendo's business practices, design philosophies, and devoted fanbase have long drawn comparisons to Apple from commentators, this is the first time Nintendo has favorably compared itself to the company. In the past, Reggie Fils-Aime has briefly mentioned iPod sales being dwarfed by Game Boy Advance sales, though that was before iPod had its biggest quarter yet in Fall 2005.

I think they were trying to capitalize on the success aspects of the comparison. Both are immensely successful.

Caliban: People who think being depressed, writing bad poems about their love of death and mutilating themselves is cool. Basically the whole "angsty teen" deal.

I wrote a good emo lyric the other day ...
slit my wrists and watch the agony come pouring out
You're free to use that, if you want.

If an emo kid wanted to kill himself by slitting his wrists, wouldn't it be relief pouring out?

My beef with emo is that usually what the person is depressed about is pretty minor. If you're going to be depressed save it for something major like your spouse leaving you or a loved one dying or getting cancer or your house burning down. Country singers sing about depressing stuff too but it's about their woman cheating on them and flipping their pickup truck.

You can't just add yes at the end of every line in order to get the right amount of syllables. It's cheating. It's like throwing baby onto the end of a song lyric and then adding it to the end of the following lyric and saying they rhyme.
Viewtiful Gamer is bad at writing Haikus; not my Staff Hero

much more appealing to write haiku poetry than rag on emo

pay not big enough to put up with their whining but games dont come cheap
with gas price so high and two zeldas coming soon i will be in debt
in enough of the haiku crap. im so pissed off at emo/goth kids and any other "scene" kid out there its not even funny. they blow hard and i could sit here all day and rant rant rant till my head blows up about them. DAMMIT I HATE THEM!

On the subject, Myspace could be an indication of the Rev online model. Each Rev gamer has a personal page, a friends list, and a cam-whore pose in their profile.
