Title: REVo Beer Pong!
Post by: Requiem on February 16, 2006, 08:28:02 PM
I know this may sound stupid to most of you, but beer pong is undoubtably my favorite drinking game. So what if someone made a Beer Pong Online game for the REV.
Holding down the "A" button would hold the ball. Then you simulate the motion to throw, and as you do so you release "A" thus releasing the ball. To bounce on the virtual table, you would use the same controls but with a different motion.
Pretty simple right?
Well anyway, I'd love to play the best of the best online as I drink each virtual cup's equal...thus getting drunk in the process.
But there's alot you could do with it. There could be special balls that do certain things. For instance, one ball explodes if made in a cup, thus knocking over the adjacent cups as well. One ball moves irradically making it hard to block (block the bounce that is), but to the one who through it, it bounces as if thrown normally, but goes crazy along the way.
You could also make a variety of rules similar to SSBM, such as bouncing or no bouncing, specials or no specials, how many re-racks are allowed, and so forth.
This could be great for those that want to play beer pong (basically half of all college students) but either don't have a beer pong table, or they don't want to go over to someone that does....
Anyway, just a thought....

I'm sure Nintendo wants parent group and other idiotic time-on-their-hands organizations to lambaste them for "using new technology to encourage kids to drink AND get them drunk!"

You know it's funny you should say that....
I had a dream about waking up and going to PGC's main site and seeing "Nintendo makes game where you can smoke POT, among other things!" as one of their headlines. With another click, I read that what Nintendo really made was make a more in-depth life simulator. It was a FPS view simulator that required two revmotes, and in that simulator you could do a bunch of things including smoking pot.
I thought it was funny because of how big the story exploded. I mean, everybody and the mothers heard about it. There was a CNN broadcast about it. It was on the radio and of course all over the internet. It was so big that my friend's heard about it, and there friend's heard about it.
People were like..."Dude, Nintendo made a game where you can smoke POT! I'm definitely buying that system now hahahahaha"
Anyway, by the end of the dream, I realized how incredibly cool the game was and even though you could preform actions that are illegal to some, I thought it might become a killer-app. You see, you can do almost everything in that game. You first start out in your room, and in order to get your hands on illegal things, you have to first make friends with people. Anyway, one controller controls the view while the other controller moves your arm while it's d-pad controls how you move.
I'm sure you don't want to hear the rest, so i'm just going to end it there.

I haven't played Beer Pong it years. It's fun. Flippy Cups is tons of fun, too. Edward Forty-Hands is the best, but I'm not really sure you could call it much of a game.

Sadly, given the GTA generation, "I WANT A GAME WHERE YOU SMOKE POT" is probably enough to sell it. Nintendo wouldn't even have to do much in the game. Just add drugs and people WOULD be excited.
Given that, I have a big enough problem with games that mimic your life but really don't (i.e., Sims, Second Life, and to a small extent Animal Crossing, except that I really enjoy AC) since it's like watching someone like you do all the cool stuff you want to do but can't. There's a penny arcade comic where Gabe is playing Sims, Tycho asks him whats up. "I'm watching my sim watch tv." Tycho then proceeds to watch Gabe, who is watching his Sim watch TV.
When you get right down to it, it's no longer a video game anymore, it's a satire on how boring life can be.
I'd rather be offered up some games that delve into imagination, not remind me of how non-imaginative my life can be (and usually is).
