Probably the most obvious idea for a game you can make on the Rev with little effort... Never mind that there's already a GameTrak Golf game that would probably play the same as a game on the Rev.

One-handed "Revmote" and sexy DoA chicks = recipe for easy jokes about lonely gamers.
I almost made that joke before and shouldn't bring it up again, should I?
Now where's Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for the GBA/DS? Or a new Ninja Gaiden game where Ryu Hayabusa isn't wearing so much armor that somehow looks more like jewellery to me?
I don't understand the popularity of golf games, but then again, I'm out of touch with a lot of sports.

Tycho will be happy. Actually I heard that the online game that is based on is really quiet good even for non-golf gamers. Also wasn't there a Revolution blog that mentioned that a ban was lifted one the 14th actually so, that could be why we have a lot of news coming.

Nothing I would go out of my way to buy though those girls are pretty cute.
It's significant that Tecmo is releasing a Rev game. Any publisher that didn't support the Cube coming aboard is a big deal. Plus they seem to have been attracted by the controller which was Nintendo's whole plan! I doubted that plan because I felt that publishers are going to be more attracted to userbase over anything else. Devs would show interest but unless they convinced their publishers it would be for nought. So this is encouraging. Let's hope it's not an isolated incident.
And Nintendo if this game turns out to be really good could you maybe resist making another Mario Golf? Is there REALLY a need for two cutesy golf games? At least get Camelot to make something different first.

Well if this game and Mario Golf both play different, and have a completely original feel to them, then I don't mind Nintendo releasing Mario Golf with this. Remember Mario Golf has been moving much more into the realm of abstract golf, with great success.
I want more of the Mario universe courses in the Revolution Mario Golf, and less of the realistic Golf. Imagine a Mario Golf from the ground being designed to introduce new Mario elements each course. The First course could be pure golf, and the next one adds speed boosts and warp pipes. Later courses could add elements like mud, ice, mushroom powerups, and more. Finally later levels actually include enemies that you must avoid, or kill. Hitting them in the air could land you interesting bonuses as well.
This is the type of Mario Golf I want to see on Revolution...and could easily be marketed along side this game. I must say, I do love the cute girls, and being able to dress them. Cell-Shading is definately much more visually interesting than this realistic 3D.

The PC version of the game is free to download and install and play, and even free to play online, but they make their money by selling you things like new costume downloads. They're probably going to keep the costume-selling system for the Rev version. I doubt the game would be a free download though.
Personally, I think the PS2 could push more polys than this game does. And the rich textures and details come from it being a PC game, so I don't know how much of that would translate into a console port, especially since we don't even really know what the Rev can handle. But they style looks nice enough.

They better not keep the costume-selling bit...That's the biggest turnoff EVER for a console gamer ever...Since we'll be paying for the game they better be including everything when they ship it; none of this micropayment bullcrap...

Wow I just went and looked up the last Nintendo Home Console Tecmo developed for, and they haven't made any games for a Nintendo Home Console since the SNES.
This is really starting to look good for Nintendo, If a developer that hasn't created anything for you for 2 generations yet created stuff for everyone else desided to get back on board for the Revolution it really can only been seen as a good thing.

Actually I will clearly admit, at the time I was entering the post I thought it was cell-shaded. I guess the characters were too cute to me, and I got distracted.
Thanks for standing up for me Bill, but I think ever forum is better when people will admit their errors.
I do believe that Cell-Shading when done well is usually a much better technique than ultra-realistic approach to 3D. Hell, even when designers approach 3D models with a more fun cartoon style do you see really great and fun visuals.
And that said. I do wish this game was Cell Shaded in character design, but with non cell shaded, but still cartoony world.
The ball should also be Cell-Shaded and time should be spent to create blur effects, and action lines that try to capture a more manga/anime feel to spice up the in game action.

I agree. Paying for costumes makes sense when the game is free but not if you have to buy the game. I consider that sort of thing an "either or" situation.

Well, the cute Fox costume pic you showed is in their "Illust Contest" section. I think someone won an I-Pod for designing that one for them. Technically, I think it didn't exist before they shipped the game. There is something appealing about a game that keeps getting improved. By it's fans even.
But yeah, I do prefer to be able to pay one reasonable amount and get the entire experience. Unfortunately, I think the "online" movement wants to make that a thing of the past.
Quote This is really starting to look good for Nintendo, If a developer that hasn't created anything for you for 2 generations yet created stuff for everyone else desided to get back on board for the Revolution it really can only been seen as a good thing.
Just to mention, Tecmo isn't making the game. A Korean company called "Ntreev Soft" made the original game, and Tecmo is hiring them to make a Rev version. Still more than Tecmo did for the N64 and Cube put together.

"Publishing for the Rev is just a step away from developing from the Rev."
Hell I'd almost consider publishing the more important one. Nintendo's ideas for attracting third parties with the Cube and the Rev are developer based - the hardware is easy to use and has unique features and stuff. That plan has always had a big flaw in that developer opinion means squat because publishers make the call regarding support. It's good that Tecmo is publishing the game because they're basically saying "we feel we can make money from this" and that's REALLY GOOD. Too often with the Cube it was like the exclusive games were made on the whim of an eccentric game designer and there was never any goal of providing serious support from the publisher. "Let's let Mikami make his game on the Cube and then once he's done with that BS we can get him working on something that will make us some REAL money or if his Cube game is great we'll port it to the PS2 without his consent."

it seems that tecmo isnt actually just publishing this title. from an article at gamespot:
"The company's first project will be a Revolution version of Korean publisher Ntreev Soft's Pangya golf series, which will be codeveloped by the two companies"
a good golf simulator could definately sell some revolutions. it seems like those virtual golf centres are getting pretty popular, as real golf gets more and more expensive to play.

The might as well just title it "Hawt Loli Golf" and be done with it.

I think it would be very cool to have Costumes won in online tournaments, and throughout the single game experience. Buying Customes isn't a good idea, unless they already have costumes you can earn throughout the game, and the new costumes are just additional bonuses that aren't needed. But if they start adding characters and such to buy, I think that is going too far.
And, why are people actually comparing the graphics of the PC game like it IS the Revolution game. These screenshots are obviously not the Revolution game. We are just looking at the graphics getting an idea about what the game looks and feels like.

Unless it's exclusive to the Xbox now or something, I still say it would sell better as a DoA golf game. I'm not a DoA fan but I'm sure using an established franchise would be better. It wouldn't be Ninja Gaiden, of course, though.

I almost forget that Tecmo does more than just DoA (and Ninja Gaiden).
Their E3 booth was this beach-themed set, simply because of DoA Extreme 2. Their swag consisted of DoA beach balls, Ninja Gaiden T-shirts, and Ninja Gaiden...uh, cell phone taggy things. Oh, and a few Kasumi pillows and Kasumi's boobs mouse pads for the draws. The Tecmo girls (including Lisa Gleave, who is a Deal Or No Deal model, I think) just chucked swag into the crowd and took pictures with everyone exiting the tents (where the trailers were playing). Just this whole beachy vibe.
Seeing Pangya Golf and Tokobot Plus and some other game is a bit of a shock..."oh, yeah, there IS more than just Team Ninja!"
And seeing as how Tecmo hasn't supported Nintendo since the Super NES (outside of Japanese games, I can only really remember Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, which is really just the NES games again), I guess it's also surprising that they're jumping on the Wii bandwagon.
But then again, I guess everyone is, or at least the major ones with at least one to "test the waters".
(DOA XBV should be on the DS. Touching is good. >_>)

Yay, pictures!!! Ha ha, shirtless Dante is freaking me out, but I must say, it's nice of them to cater to all tastes. Looks like Tecmo is learning a thing or two from IGN's incredibly, amazingly, totally awesome "R u homo and playing gamez? SRSLY??" poll.

At least he sort-of looks like a person. Why do all the girls look they've borrowed their eyes from Sauron?

Seeing Pangya Golf and Tokobot Plus and some other game is a bit of a shock..."oh, yeah, there IS more than just Team Ninja!"
Pangya isn't made by Tecmo. It's an existing PC game made by a Korean company called Ntreev Soft. Tecmo just came up with the idea of selling it on the Revolution/Wii.

The Japanese version of Pangya has a playable character called "Hard Gay" who's apparently a Japanese comedian who dresses and acts as an extremely flaming homosexual.

Ah, my bad. Still, if it sells well, hopefully Tecmo considers releasing their own unique games for it.
I'm sure I've made enough comments about how the one-handed controller can be appealing to those who play particular games of theirs just for the eye candy...

All the Women eyes look like the Eye of Sauron because they have the One Ring that can control them all.
It's truth in advertising.

Itagaki's made some comments about the Wii since E3.
http://gonintendo.com/?p=2887
Quote Tecmo’s Tomonobu Itagaki - “The Wii is truly interesting. People were talking about it. A person asked me to make a Beach Volleyball game for it, one that takes advantage of the motion controls. I wondered. Would this man really play it? Dead or Alive Extreme 2 will offer players more than 100 hours of game time, so I suppose they might need something to take a break with. I will consider.”
Quote In an interview conducted by Game Informer magazine, Team Ninja Developer Head Tomonobu Itagaki discussed Nintendo's next-generation console, Wii, including any plans to develop for the system and the console's compatibility with Team Ninja's franchises.
During the interview, Itagaki noted he is very interested in the Wii controller. However, at this time he is engaged in three other projects - Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, Dead or Alive Cronus and Ninja Gaiden 2 - and is too busy to work on an original Wii game.
On the topic of Ninja Gaiden 2, which is presently without a solid platform, Itagaki expressed concerns with the control scheme if the game was made for Wii. According to the Tecmo developer, Wii's controller might might be a potential problem with sword control, especially in the realm of drawing the weapon backwards and swinging. Also, Itagaki worried enemies would need to have their intelligence reduced to compensate for the control issue.
Itagaki stated that people possess different strength levels, hence making development more difficult rather than easier, since the development team would have to anticipate an extensive variation in the speed different people move the controller. For these reasons, Itagaki was unsure if a game like Ninja Gaiden 2 could work on Wii
By the looks of things, it seems like he's willing to abandon his "I only work on the most powerful hardware" motto (which may already be gone, looking at Sony) for the sake of the Wiimote, and he's even contemplating downgraded ports with new controls on at least two of his three current projects, but that he's going to "wait and see" if any unforseen problems with the Wii pop up, like arm fatigue, or things like that.

Alright. I've always wanted a 100 hour Pretty Princess Dress Up game.
Way to go Itagaki.

Wait, I thought he didn't care about difficulties players might have with Ninja Gaiden?

So has anybody bought this game and played it yet? I am curious if it is fun. I want another Wii game and it is between this, Elebits and Metal Slug.

My friend has been religiously playing the PC version and he loves it. I don't see how Wii controls can subtract fun from the equation unless these are the same out of shape gamers that get tennis elbow from Wii tennis even though tennis elbow is caused by the impact of the racket with the ball...
Also, the game is out, which means I COULD BE ENJOYING SOME HAWT LOLIS, RIGHT NOW!!!!

Remember GameSpot is the same site that gave Twilight Princess (Wii) a 8.8, I don't think their opinion counts for much any more. IGN Loved the game and ranked as one of their favorite Wii titles. They also said that if your out of shape it will get a bit hard to play over time, just like real golf.
I'm totally hooked on the PC version, I can easily sit down and play it for hours and I can only see the Wii version as being just as addictive. The game plays just like Mario Golf and Hot Shots Golf so if your a fan of those games then you will love it. Infact based on my experience with the PC version I would say its actually a far better version then both of those games. The Wii version also has the option to play with the Wavebird or with the Wiimote so if you get tired playing with the Wiimote you can switch off.
The only reason I haven't picked up my copy for the Wii is cause I had MetalSlug reserved there as well and I've been waiting for it to come in so I only have to make one trip to GameStop.
But I'll say one thing this Weekend is going to be a PangYa Weekend ^_^

It's out now in the US? Oh man, I just bought Elebits yesterday (got the plushie too thanks to a friendly Gamestop employee) and I am LOVING the game, but I wanna buy Pangya too! I love how there are just too many great Wii releases I can't keep up ^^

Man I LOVE this game! I just got done playing Super Swing Golf for the last 5 hours and I know I have to go to bed and get some sleep but all I want to do is keep playing it. I even got a few of my friends hooked on the game.
The game plays far better then the Golf game on Wii Sports, Pangya plays and feels like REAL golf. Tecmo did a A+ job porting Pangya from the PC to the Wii and implemented the controls almost perfectly.
The single player mode almost makes up for the lack of Online play. My only real complaint is the fact you can't make multiple accounts on one Wii. But at least when you play 4 player mode all the money you and your friends make gets added to the account.
As I said before if you like Mario Golf or Hot Shots you will LOVE this game.

Is Kaz in the Wii version? I know he's not out in the American Pangya yet. Also, how does the Desert course play? I remember reading about it in the PC version yet it was never released. I saw pics of it in the Wii version though.
