Title: can we get a new abb for Mario Kart please>?

I hate to bring this up but I cant stand how all of a sudden Mario kart is getting Abbreviated MK, that has always been and always will be abbreviateion for Mortal Kombat we shoudl abb Mario Kart somethng else or just sopell it out, maybe put MK DS so we know for sure what is being referenced cuz I still think tehres enough MK fans to keep getting confused cuz when i see a post with MK info I automatticaly get hopes up for Mortal Kombat for Ds or something.



I am just asking nicely if we can try something different to prevent confusion. ok thanks

Mario Kart > Mortal Kombat, plain and simple. It's more important, it's more well known, it's more relevant to a Nintendo board, and it's better.

how so, Mortal Kombat II for SNES was what made me finaly get one, and my first GC game was Mortal Kombat Deadly Allience and my firt N64 games was MK Trilogy. Mortal Kombat is still very much relavent to Nintendo, it suck ballz that the last 2 this gen are not being made for GC.


But I see your point so ok whatever.

Mario Kart - 1992
Mortal Kombat - 1993

MK is officially Mario Kart.

But really it's irrelevant because Mario Kart is never called jsut that. There's Super (SMK), MK64, Super Circuit (MK:SC), Double Dash (MKD) and MKDS.

Ok well usualy yes but tehres a thread called unofficila pgc mk tournament and since MK Tournmament was in the title I thought it was about Mortal Kombat and thats why i thoughht we should try somethign else like MKDS or something. And The original Mortal Kombat ARCADE was made in 1992 not 93, that was when the home versions came out. MK II came out in cardes 93 home versions 94. They always took a year to do home versions back then because they wanted to give the arcade time to make money.

Mortal Kombat hasn't been relevent in almost ten years.  So I can see why MK would be considered Mario Kart these days because it's still relevent.  I'll admit when I see "MK" I do think of Mortal Kombat but it's usually pretty easy to tell what someone is talking about if you look at the context.  Anyone talking about MK on the DS board is obviously talking about Mario Kart.

I like Mortal Kombat.  I still do.  Deadly Alliance and Deception I enjoyed, but I guess it's not as controversial as before in a time when plain blood in a video game was still a rarity.  I hear MK: Armageddon will have ALL of the Mortal Kombatants, which is a joygasm as I loved it when they did that in MK: Trilogy (not to be confused with UMK3).

Unless they ever have a Fatality where you run someone over in Mortal Kombat, or something involving bananas, there wouldn't be confusion if you look at the context, as Ian has already said.  In-game, I think the "MK" abbreviation is used more often in the Mortal Kombat games, which is probably why I think of that more.

Well yeah it is context you ahev to look at but what origianly consfused me WAS the context someone was talking about an MK Tournament, so I NATURALY assumed Mortal Kombat Tournament, but I will let it go its not worth fighitng.

Im a little pissed off at midway atm with their new Mortal Kombat comming out with every fighter in the Mortal Kombat Universe (60 or so fighters) and custom characters!!  I was under the impression that it was not technically possible to have so many characters in their game and thats why alot got cut from the roster in deception.  I could understand if it was going to be on the next gen hardware but its not.

I feel Midway has just Ripped everyone off and Deception was just a rush job!!

Would you prefer if you had to wait until this year to get the one and only Mortal Kombat game for the Cube?  For that matter, will that game even be released on the Cube?  Probably only if the Rev suddenly boosts sales of recent Cube games.

I don't think it needs a new abbreviation, well maybe just refer to it as MKDS all the time...unless they make Mortal Kombat DS which would lead to more confusion. Mortal Kombat kicks Mario Kart's ass by the way.

I already pointed that out mister brandon but your are so right MK is so much better than mario kart.


And to whoever was complaining about Decpetion, that game was released for GC, teh new one ISNT going to be so the storage space on the others is a lot higher so they can fit more characters. Good thing I got an xbxo recently so I can still enojoy MK games.

And MK Trilogy was a lot better than MK II I thought. Also Gold was good and DA was the best this gen. Deception is good too but it seams like they didnt put as much effort into it as the otehrs. and I love shoalin monks that game rocks. To bad Midway is preduced against Nintendo and wont be making games for them anymore, they said that Arcade Treasures 3 and the new Rampage will be the last games for GC and tehy wont even "touch" the DS

...yea and by that logic Nintendo needs to look up 'cart' too lol

but, anyway, I never really associated MK with Mortal Kombat...until now! grrr  A simple MKD or MKS could solve the problem and I think I'd prefer it that way.

Edit: and then there is the : + D = thing that messes with the abbreviation!  Hmm maybe MK: DS or just MKDS

That would either be cool or confusing if used in a slogan to promote McDonald's Wi-Fi partnership...

"Play MC: DS at McD's!"

Though I guess if they wanted to do anything even close to that they would've done it anyway.  I haven't been to a McDonald's since that deal and I don't even know if that extended to Canada anyway.
