Title: High Score SubForum
Post by: Mario on January 17, 2006, 04:48:08 PM
I think a High Score forum for PGC would be a good idea. One topic for each game, everyone posts their best scores / best times etc. I'd be happy to start all the topics and edit the original post with scores as people post them. I think this may have been discussed before but I can't remember what came out of it (searched for a topic, couldn't find anything), but I think it would be good for the community, and it's a good reason for people to go back to some old games.

I take my gaming seriously and i'd like to see how other PGC'ers stack up. Perhaps people can even take vids / pictures of some amazing gaming feats they want to show off. It would make the forum more about actual videogames and less about bitching about things, looking forward to things that don't exist and sales. Heck, maybe it'll encourage more people to sign up too, to flex their gaming muscle.

Thoughts?

I totally second this.  We've already got Wario Ware threads for 2/3 of the games and a SM64DS thread that we can put in there, and somewhere there's a Touch and Go compilation.  I think if high scores had their own subforum people would be more interested and willing to submit, and there a ton of games to do this with, especially on the DS.

And hey, it couldn't be any worse than the European subforum.

I think there needs to be some method to validate the scores. Anyone can claim the have a 3 second lap time for Airship Fortress and without an adequate method of validation who are we to say "NO UNPOSSIBLE!!". But I guess it wouldn't really need to be proven unless it was something out of the ball park like that...

Sure, if it's questionable a screenshot might be necessary, but I think we all trust each other right ?

I wandered into this thread of my own free will and I endorse this product or idea.

Most of the people on this forum are regulars, which I think we can trust for the most part.  However, if someone new joins and then starts posting unbelievable high scores, we may question his honesty.

I'm interested in this if it takes off, but I think we should try some threads in an existing area to see if they'll be popular

There really would be no reason to lie about the scores. I mean, they are just for fun.

I like the idea, but I think mkds/any other wifi games online scores sould not be allowed due to the high number of people disconnecting when their losing.

I am here.

SUPER - Well, i'll give it a shot, but the main reason I think a new forum would be better is because it would make more people participate because it's a seperate event. I wouldn't expect the forum to be super active all the time, just get progressively big, with spikes when a big new game is out. But hey , it would get more posts than Technical Discussion and Gameplay Strategy... hmmm, maybe it can be merged in with Gameplay Strategy?

stevey - nah, no nonsense like WiFi records, they say nothing about skill really.

Burn, this is a warning to you not to ask the same kinds of questions in multiple threads. I've seen you make posts all around the forum to see if there's "ne one there?" or if they want to play Animal Crossing. Keep that kind of stuff to threads dedicated to that topic, please.

And that's why all 13 year olds should be legally required to remain at GameFAQs.

Personally speaking, I would have let him had it considering he didn't stop with the constant spamming of "What is your animal crossing code" across most active threads, and then went to personal insults.
